Welcome to the world, Baby Zen! 💙

Our beautiful boy made his way into the world on Saturday, October 10!

I could not be more grateful for our incredible team of 312 Doulas and Gentle Birth Care . Their knowledgeable, sincere, passionate and graceful presence was my solid ground throughout it all.

Birth is common, but it is not ordinary.

And for me, it is really, really hard.
(I understand why people go to the hospital. It’s just not my scene, for reasons I can elaborate on another day.)

Maybe it’s my narrow hips. Maybe it’s a lifetime of core work. Or maybe my babies just feel so cozy inside me that they’re in no hurry to leave. Whatever the reason, birth asks just about everything of me.

But after 35 hours of labor (half the time it took to bring Grace into the world—she took over 70!), Zen finally emerged from within me and rose into my arms.
And there he was. Our boy. 💙

Thank you, John Do , for showing up for me and our entire family in every way I could have dreamed of. You were the wind beneath my wings, giving me heart when I needed it most.

Thank you, Grace, for being such a sweet and loving daughter and big sister. Your thoughtfulness, compassion, patience, and excitement created a foundation of ease and joy as we welcomed your little brother.

Thank you, Neema , for being there, heart and soul, for all of us. Your love and presence have meant so much.

And Zen, thank you for being so wonderfully Zen.

Your peaceful presence has been a gift since conception. There is something so special about the energy you bring into our family, and we cannot wait to watch your spirit, wisdom, and unique little self continue to unfold.

Welcome home, sweet boy. We are so grateful you’re here. 💙

And finally, thank you to everyone who has supported me and my family over the years.

Many of you came for handstands, and now we’re talking about home birth and welcoming my second child! Thank you for growing with me. ❤️ Maybe it’s the new baby hormones, but the more deeply I experience life, the more I feel connected to all of you. More and more, I feel the oneness of us all. ❤️ Sending so much love to you and yours!

Who doesn't need a hype team, people to cheer, always elevating the vibes, when bringing a baby earthside?!?

During a postpartum visit today, our client shared that she absolutely would have made different choices if we weren't there - and she was thankful that we lifted her up when she just could not see the way.

We CAN see the way! We've walked these paths.

And we know where the best matchas are after birth ;)

Have you heard this one? There are a few stories going around right now.

Providers attempting to prevent clients from working with doulas.

Failing to share the research, eve ACOG recommendation, can cause harm. Not just to their clients, but to other families who haven’t looked at the data.

ACOG = hire a doula.

ACOG = better outcomes with doulas.

🟢 If an OB isn’t recommending hiring a doula, they are not practicing according to their own ACOG standards.

A local pregnancy group was talking about OBs banning doulas.

A potential client was a part of this community & believed this was a broadly accepted policy.

✴️ More importantly, this influenced them to not do their own research, and believe that perhaps that doulas might be counter to the evidence based birth she envisioned.

❤️ Victoria and Heather started 312Doulas 8 years ago after having been colleagues and friends for years before that! What an incredible journey we've had with having now supported more than 1000 families during their births, teaching countless of classes & workshops helping our clients have the best strategies for birth thru postpartum.
