🏳️‍🌈 Pride Month is a celebration of resilience, community and authenticity.

It’s also a reminder that mental health support matters. LGBTQ+ individuals face higher rates of mental health challenges, often connected to experiences of discrimination, stigma, and lack of support.

At Skylight, we believe everyone deserves care that is affirming, compassionate, and grounded in respect for who they are. This month and every month, we’re committed to creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to care for their mental health.

Happy from the Skylight team!

We’re proud every day to provide a welcoming, inclusive and affirming place both for our clinicians and our clients in the LGBTQ+ community.

In a world where LGBTQ+ individuals face disproportionate rates of mental health concerns, it’s a priority for us to create a space where folks are safe, seen, respected and supported exactly as they are. We believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate care and the opportunity to show up fully as themselves.

This month and every month, we celebrate the resilience and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community and remain committed to fostering belonging, connection and healing for all. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General issued an advisory highlighting growing concerns around social media and young people’s mental health as usage continues to rise.

The report found that 95% of youth use social media, with more than a third saying they use it “almost constantly.” It also linked social media use to increased risks related to anxiety and depression, body image concerns, harassment and cyberbullying, disrupted sleep and more.

During and every month, we believe young people deserve the tools and support needed to build healthier relationships with technology and protect their mental wellbeing. And that care should be accessible to everyone who needs it — something we’re proud to help provide through the support of the Skylight Foundation.

Spirituality and therapy may not seem like they go hand in hand. But, as Skylight therapist Daniel Bahner, LPC, points out, using spiritual practice in tandem with evidence-based therapeutic strategies can be transformational for some clients.

But what does that look like in practice, and how does spirituality differ from religion? Daniel explains his perspective and how the two work together.

If you’re interested in working with a clinician who can explore these strategies, reach out to us here:

We’re excited to share another new position on our team! Jalesa Boyd, LMFT, is stepping into the role of Assistant Director of Belonging and Culture.

Working closely with our Director of Belonging and Culture Tyler Jasper, LCPC, Jalesa will be helping to move our belonging and inclusion efforts forward in meaningful ways. She will be helping lead our DEI Committee and will provide support and guidance across our affinity groups, team events, recognition and appreciation initiatives and more.

Jalesa brings a wonderful combination of warmth, thoughtfulness and enthusiasm to all that she does, and we are thrilled to have her in this capacity! Help us welcome Jalesa in her new role.

What helps someone feel like they truly belong in a space?

It’s a question Tyler Jasper works with every day, both as the founder of Find Your Voice Counseling & Consultation PLLC and in her role as Skylight’s Director of Belonging and Culture.

At Find Your Voice, that shows up in the way clients are supported in bringing their full experiences into the room. At Skylight, it shapes how we think about building a workplace where clinicians feel connected, supported and able to show up as their whole selves.

Mental health support can still feel out of reach even when someone has access to insurance.

Long waitlists, confusing coverage, cost, stigma and difficulty finding the right provider continue to shape whether people are actually able to access care. A recent report also noted that nearly 150 million people in the U.S. live in areas experiencing shortages of mental health providers.

During , we’re thinking not only about awareness but about what makes support realistically accessible for people in the first place. This is part of why The Skylight Foundation exists. Its purpose is to help address affordability and access barriers in mental health care so that more people are able to receive the support they need.

For anyone experiencing a mental health crisis, relief can't come soon enough. Yet for far too many workers, even those with employer-sponsored health coverage, that relief can feel out of reach.

Mother’s Day can bring up a wide range of emotions.

In a blog post on motherhood and capacity, Tyler Jasper reflects on what it means to recognize your limits and meet them with self-compassion. The idea is simple but not always easy: You cannot do everything, and you are not meant to.

That perspective is central to Tyler’s work, both through Find Your Voice Counseling & Consultation PLLC and in her role as Director of Belonging and Culture at Skylight, where she helps create space for people to feel supported as whole individuals.
