Through this capstone project, I had the privilege of sharing the stories of nine women entrepreneurs in Rogers Park. Their journeys reflect leadership, culture, resilience, and the power of building something meaningful for their families and communities.

I owe so much gratitude to Sheree Moratto for her encouragement, advice, resources and unwaivering belief in my dreams and the dreams of so many business owners she has poured into unconditionally. It all started with a phone call to my local SCORE Mentors chapter and an entrepreneurship training course.

Day 3 🔥 at the Black Women’s Expo.

Our final day was filled with amazing conversations, networking opportunities, and of course more life-changing massage!

1. Thank you Territa Stennis for stopping by our booth and sharing your expertise. We look forward to partnering with you!

2.&3. Lit Vegan came through with amazing lemonade and vegan sauces! This pop-up needs to be permanent!

4. Gentle Manual Lymphatic drainage for a client who could not sit in the traditional massage chair.

5. Several Second Baptist Church Evanston members showed up! I’m so grateful for my church family.

6. The attitude we have about anxiety and stress this year!

7. Barbers 💈 need love too. We were blessed to have one snoring in our chair today, so we figured we share our healing hands with Yvonne Shearrill of the Black Cosmetologist and Barber Cultural Association.

8. Beautiful waist beads from 🍀🪲. The sweet owner is from Ghana 🇬🇭 We share a common love of tooth 🦷 gaps 🤗

💆🏽‍♀️ Established some wonderful connections for private and corporate chair massage and sound baths!

Today is the last day!

We will be going live and choosing our 90-minute massage winner today at 2:00pm CST before LE’ANDRIA JOHNSON hits graces the stage with her gifted voice!

I enjoyed this interview with Chelsea Stalling Whittington and The Black Women’s Expo as we while I waited in line to get my exhibitor badge. I hope you get a chance to stop by before the weekend is over! 🤣

Backstory: I this beautifully dressed woman talking to someone on camera and wondered what they were doing. I told myself “if she calls you, be ready to talk about your business” So I started thinking about what I would say and she called me up!

Day 1

and we made it! And we had to turn people away! We also enjoyed all of the women who showed up for themselves today!

Mother and daughter teams, solo business owners, aunties, grandmas, and groups of friends all stopped by with smiles and open hearts.

One woman said she thought NIA WELLNESS OASIS was a retreat destination! We think she’s on to something!
