Beautiful words to heal the inner child. This is really worth reading and internalizing. 🌟🌟🌟🦋
Say to your child
(or to your inner child):
“You never have to earn my love. You never have to become someone else to belong.
You can be angry, afraid, confused, wild, tender, difficult, full of joy, full of sorrow. You can make mistakes. You can disappoint me. You can change your mind a thousand times. You can fall apart in my arms. You never have to hide your tears, your truth, your beautiful, complicated humanity from me.
I don’t need you to be happy all the time. I don’t need you to be “good” all the time. I want to know you. The real you. Even the parts you think are unloveable. Especially those parts.
And sometimes I will have to say no. Sometimes I will have to stop you from hurting yourself or someone else. I will set boundaries, even when you hate them, even when you hate me for setting them.
But my love will never be withdrawn as a punishment.
You are not here to fulfil my dreams, heal my wounds, carry my unfinished life. You belong to yourself. And whatever happens, however far you wander, whatever you become in this life, there will always be a place in my heart where you are welcome, exactly as you are.
You were worthy of love before you could speak, before you could smile, before you could do a single thing to please this fickle world, even before the first star was born.
And nothing, nothing, will ever change that, even after I am gone, even after the end of the world.”
And if you cannot say these words to your child, at least let them feel their truth in everything you do, in every choice you make, in every boundary you set, and in the way you meet them, day by day, especially in the most difficult moments, especially when you are hurting.
