The beautiful fall weather allowed for some outdoor sessions today! This simple activity incorporated many developmental goals. Feel free to try with your own kiddos!
The child was prompted to find, grasp, and collect 10 leaves of different shapes, colors, and textures. We then tore off small pieces from each leaf, then glued and placed each piece carefully inside of the drawn leaf shape (can be any desired shape or figure!)
This fun activity targeted visual scanning, visual motor coordination, fine motor coordination and strength, following directions, attention to task, impulse control. We also included sensory play by touching the leaves and glue, as well as discussing the feel, color, smell, and sound of the leaves as they were torn and crunched in our hands.
