I don’t want every massage I give to look exactly the same.

Because every person walking through my door is different — and even the same person can need something different from one appointment to the next.

Sometimes that means focused work.

Sometimes slower, flowing massage.

Sometimes cupping or other supportive techniques.

Sometimes the most useful thing I can do is keep it simple and give your nervous system some room to settle.

The goal isn’t to fit you into my massage.

It’s to shape the massage around you.

I created Foundations of Attunement in Practice specifically with massage therapists in mind — but the ideas inside it aren’t limited to massage.

At its core, it asks us to think about how we talk about bodies, how our own beliefs show up in the way we care for people, and how we create spaces where others feel respected rather than evaluated.

That matters in massage.

But it also matters in healthcare, beauty and spa services, fitness, caregiving, wellness spaces — and honestly, in the way we move through the world with other humans.

It’s a reflective digital guide rather than a step-by-step technique manual, and it’s available for $19.

If the idea of creating more body-respectful, attuned mind-set resonates with you, I’d love for you to check it out.

“But if my shoulders are going to get tight again, what’s the point?”

Because temporary relief still counts.

We don’t stop sleeping because we’ll get tired again. We don’t stop eating because we’ll get hungry again. We don’t stop stretching because our bodies will eventually feel stiff again.

Massage isn’t a permanent reset button.

But feeling better today, moving more comfortably, getting a break from persistent tension, or having an hour where your system can settle can still have value.

Care doesn’t have to be permanent to be worthwhile.

🌿 Maybe you don’t need massage because something is terribly wrong.

Maybe your shoulders have just been tight lately.

Maybe you’ve been sitting too much.

Maybe you’ve been doing a lot.

Maybe you miss how much easier your body feels after a massage.

Or maybe you simply want 60 or 90 minutes where the only thing on your agenda is lying there.

Those are all good enough reasons to book.

I’ve had a little more availability lately, so if massage has been on your “I really need to schedule that” list, this is a pretty good time. 😊

Massage pressure isn’t just a three-button setting.

You might like medium pressure with long, flowing strokes.

You might want firmer pressure with slower compression holds.

You might love deeper work through your shoulders but want your legs worked gently.

You might want focused therapeutic work one day and something quieter and more restorative the next.

All of those are completely reasonable.

You don’t have to know massage terminology, either. Tell me what you want the work to feel like, and we can figure it out together.

Bodies have scars. Hair. Stretch marks. Loose skin. Acne. Surgical changes. Cellulite. Fat. Muscle. Bony places. Soft places. Asymmetry.

Bodies age. Bodies change.

There is no single version of a body that is more appropriate for a massage table.

You don’t need to lose weight first. Shave first. Apologize for your skin. Explain your scars. Or make yourself smaller.

Massage is for bodies.

Including yours.

For National Dog Day, here are pictures of my cats. 😂🐱🐱

Frankie & Phyllis would also like to remind you that resting is productive, naps are important, and you do not have to earn time to take care of yourself. And you should probably go ahead and get your next massage scheduled. 😏😸

There is no prize for being the "easiest" massage client. 😉

Too warm? Tell me.
Too cold? Tell me.
Want more pressure? Less pressure? Tell me.

I have a table warmer that can be adjusted, fans when you’re warm, and a heater or extra blankets when you’re cold.

And the same goes for the massage itself.

Your comfort isn’t an inconvenience. Your preferences are useful information that help me give you a better session.

Massage doesn’t have to “fix” your body to be worthwhile.

It can help ease muscle tension, support comfortable movement, calm an overloaded nervous system, bring awareness to areas you’ve been holding tension, and sometimes simply give you an hour where you don’t have to do anything for anyone else.

Your body isn’t a problem to solve.

Sometimes support, movement, touch, rest and feeling a little more comfortable in your own body are reason enough.

And if it’s been a while since you’ve had that kind of time for yourself, I’ve got some room on the schedule. 💛

If you know me at all, whether as a client, a friend, or a colleague, you know how important it has always been to me to create a safe and welcoming massage space.

Most of us carry anxieties, self-doubt, and insecurities about our bodies and how we exist in the world. Add in the vulnerability that can come with massage and those can be even louder. My goal has always been to create a space where people feel safe enough to simply exist and come as they are.

Because this message is something I care so deeply about, I've created a digital reflective guide around it.

This started as an idea about body shame in massage, and somewhere along the way it became something much bigger. While it was created with massage therapists in mind, it explores principles of attunement that can extend to many client-facing professions.

I've been sitting on it for a while. I’ve rewritten it, renamed it, redesigned it…and now I actually have to let people see it. 😅

Foundations of Attunement in Practice is officially live now through The Attuned Practice.

If you know a massage therapist, bodyworker, healthcare/wellness professional, or someone else this might resonate with, sharing it would mean a lot.
