Viola Paul, 97, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

Viola was born in Fort Branch, Indiana on June 25, 1929, to the late Henry J. and Margaret R. (Pohl) Weiss. She was a loving wife and mother. Additionally, Viola was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where she was a member of the Women’s Club and the Quilter’s Club. The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry was very close to Viola’s heart as she volunteered there for over 18 years.

Surviving Viola are two sons, Darrel (Wendi) Paul of Indianapolis, Indiana and Michael Paul of Evansville, Indiana; a daughter, Brenda Fischer of Evansville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Aaron and Cameron (Paige) Fischer; and two great grandchildren, Roswell and Silas.

In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Richard William Paul in 1996; two brothers, Wilbert and Cletus Weiss; three sisters, Roseleen Cummins, Henrietta Rainey, and Alfrieda Macke; and a son in law, Keith Fischer.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 5528 Hogue Rd, Evansville, IN 47712, Rev. Luke Hassler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, Evansville, Indiana 47712 or from 10:30 AM until service time, Tuesday at Corpus Christi....

Sara J. Kemmerlin, 71, of Evansville, passed away peacefully at Aperion Care Lincoln on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Sara was born on September 10, 1954, in Evansville to the late Meredith and Helen (Lintzenich) Hamilton. She cherished her family especially and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was an active and dedicated member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was inducted into the Brute` Society of the Diocese of Evansville for her service to the church. Sara was a spirited member of the church choir and known for her passionate, soulful singing of Mary Did You Know and Wade in the Water. She was also active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Ann’s Auxiliary, and served as the president of the Westside Catholic School Board.

Surviving Sara are her husband of 42 years, McCoy Kemmerlin, Jr.; children and their spouses, Katherine Kemmerlin and David Greder and McCoy, III and Lauren Kemmerlin; grandchildren, Kalynn Greder, Quinn and Gavin Kemmerlin; sisters, Mary Ann Lester, Rebecca Brunner, and Nancy Knight, and brothers, John (Donna) Hamilton, Paul (Diane) Hamilton, Christopher (Debbie) Hamilton, Peter (Vicky) Hamilton, Andrew (Mary) Hamilton, and Eric (Michelle) Hamilton.

In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by a brother, Alexander Charles Hamilton.

Robert A. Wessel, 73, of Evansville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Bob was born in Red Bud, Illinois on February 13, 1953, to the late Norman and Dorothy (Eggemeyer) Wessel. He was a civil engineer who started his work career at the Texaco Refinery before moving to Wales and working for Pembroke Refinery. Bob and his wife, Melanie, then moved back to the states and he went to work at the John Brown Refinery, then for MPD in Owensboro for over twenty years before retiring from Qualex. Bob enjoyed reading, watching Indiana University basketball, running and gardening, but more than anything he cherished time with his grandchildren.

Surviving Bob are his wife of 47 years, Melanie (Happe) Wessel; children and their spouses, Dusten and Terry Wessel, Chelsea and Jarod Mills, and Laila and Casey Schu; a sister, Kathy (Billy) Kennedy; brother, Jim (Joan) Wessel, and grandchildren, Stella Wessel, Connor Roberts, Parker and Everleigh Wessel, Haven, Toby, Arianna, and Tyler Mills, and Emerson and Griffin Schu.

Funeral services for Bob will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Emily Slade officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.

Marilyn “Mare” (Zeller) Newhouse-Lankford, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 28, 2026. Marilyn was the daughter of Wilbert and Dorthy Zeller born on May 12, 1941.

Over the years Mare held many different roles from a beautician to owning her own business at Eastland Mall (From the Heart of Germany).

Mare is survived by her son, Brent (Beth) Newhouse; brother, Bruce (Kathy) Zeller; sister, Pam (Chuck) Reine; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mare was preceded in death by husbands Dave Newhouse in 1997 and Steve Lankford in 2024 and by a sister, Sister Barbara Ann Zeller.

According to her wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Her cremated remains will be entombed at St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Shay Barnes, her longtime care giver, the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice and the Majestic Care Team for all the love and support they have given Mare and her family.

Olga Jean “Jean” Fischer, 92, of Evansville, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Deaconess Hospital Midtown Campus.

Jean was born on January 12, 1934, in Evansville to the late Jesse and Mildred (Lackey) Parkinson. She was a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and an active volunteer at St. Boniface School when her children attended there. She worked as a bus driver for the EVSC for 41 years and also as a waitress at the Old Mill. Jean enjoyed volunteering her time at SWIRCA and traveling with her sister, Jackie Strange. She also enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and working puzzles in her free time, but more than anything she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving Jean are her children, Charles Frank (Vickie) Fischer, III, Jean (Donnie) Brown, Vicki (Dennis) Daniel, Jane (Marty) Knight, and Fred Fischer; sister, Jackie Strange, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frank
Fischer, II in 1993; by a daughter, Jennifer Fischer, sister, Mary Hollander; brother, Delbert Parkinson, and by her stepfather, Fred Brugger.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. Lowell Will officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday at Pierre Funeral...
