Ovarian cancer may not cause noticeable symptoms, especially in its early stages. That’s why it’s important to know the signs and pay attention to changes in your body.

Possible symptoms may include:
• Bloating or swelling in the abdomen
• Pelvic or back pain
• Feeling full quickly when eating
• Changes in bowel habits or needing to urinate more often
• Unexplained weight loss or fatigue

You know your body best. Talk to your doctor if you notice changes that are unusual for you or don’t go away.

Pain is not a normal part of aging. Pain is not something you should just live with. Your care team wants to know if you are having pain. Checking in about pain is a normal and important part of your health care.

Molina Healthcare has simple tips to help you manage pain.

Keep a short pain journal:
• Note when the pain starts
• Write what make it better or worse
• Track how it affects your sleep, mood or daily activities

Always tell your provider how long the pain has been happening and how it affects your day. They may ask questions like:
• “Can you describe your pain?”
• “How does it affect your daily activities?”
• “On a scale of 0 to 10, how bad is the pain today?”

Talking about your pain helps your provider understand what you are feeling. This way, they can help you stay comfortable and healthy.

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that causes red blood cells to become hard, sticky and crescent-shaped. These cells can block blood flow and make it harder for oxygen to reach different parts of the body.

Symptoms can vary from person to person and may change over time. Common symptoms can include anemia, episodes of pain, fatigue, swelling in the hands and feet, and frequent infections.

Treatments are available to help manage symptoms, prevent or reduce complications, and improve quality of life. If you or a loved one has sickle cell disease, talk with your health care provider about available treatment and care options.

🧠 Today is Concussion Awareness Day. A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that can happen after a fall, accident, or hit to the head or body.

Knowing the signs and symptoms can help you recognize when you or someone you know may need medical attention. Symptoms may not always appear right away, so pay close attention to changes in how a person feels, thinks or acts after an injury.

When in doubt, get checked out. Take head injuries seriously and talk with a health care provider if you have concerns.

September is National Deaf Awareness Month, a time to learn about the experiences of those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Looking to be more inclusive in everyday interactions? One great place to start is learning a few simple phrases in American Sign Language (ASL), a visual language that uses hand movements, facial expressions and body language to communicate.

At Molina Healthcare, we remain committed to making sure everyone has access to the resources they need to communicate and feel supported.

Age 66+ or older? Support your health with a yearly Functional Status Assessment.

A yearly Functional Status Assessment helps your doctor understand how well you move, think and do daily tasks.

You can support your health at home by:
• Staying active with light exercise, like walking or stretching
• Doing daily tasks such as dressing, grooming or making simple meals
• Using helpful tools, like grab bars or walkers, when needed
• Keeping your mind active with reading, puzzles or memory games
• Staying in touch with friends, family or community groups
• Telling your care team if daily tasks become harder

These steps can help you stay strong, independent and healthy.
