A balanced meal plan designed specifically for dialysis patients.
A healthy diet can help you avoid complications on dialysis and better meet your nutrition needs. This plan wonโt be for everyone as every person has their own individual needs and should always seek the advice of their kidney doctor and clinic dietitian.
This program is designed for dialysis patients and provides around 1650 calories per day on average.
It was created with the following key considerations:
๐Potassium & Fiber
In kidney disease - especially when on dialysis - you often need to limit the amount of potassium in the diet. This meal plan provides close to ~2000 milligrams of potassium a day. Potassium is also found in many high-fiber foods. This plan provides sufficient potassium and fiber from a variety of foods in the right serving sizes.
Bone Building Nutrients
Phosphorus: Kidney disease can result in a buildup of phosphorus in the blood which can damage the body. This plan appropriately restricts the amount of phosphorus to less than 1,000 milligrams a day while providing close to adequate calcium and magnesium to create kidney-friendly food choices.
Sodium ๐ง
Limiting sodium in the diet can help control body water balance and blood pressure. This program meets the sodium limit with less than 2,000 milligrams of sodium daily.
Protein
Your protein needs are higher once you are on dialysis, however everyone has their own individual protein needs. This plan provides an average of 75 grams of protein a day from both fish and chicken and plant-based protein sources like tofu.
This 7 day meal plan includes:
* Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner + snacks
* Grocery List
* Recipes
* Nutrition Analysis for each day
