Richard B. Mezquita

Feb. 13, 1939- Sept. 19, 2021

Son of Bernabe and Eliza Hazel Mezquita of Marblehead, Mass. Dick attended the Marblehead School system and Brewster Academy, where he was a 3 sport athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. Dick then attended the University of New Hampshire and played football all four years, captaining the team during his senior season. He went on to continue his education at Keene State & completed his Masters from Fitchburg State.

Dick was a football coach/teacher at Franklin High School and Kingswood Regional High school where he developed their football program before moving to Milford to continue his coaching/teaching career.

In his later years he was the Principal at Timberlane Regional High School for 10 years before moving to SAU 9 in North Conway.

Dick was very active in New Hampshire athletics. He was president of the NHIAA and was involved with the UNH 100 Club. In addition, he coached the NH Shrine game twice and was inducted into the UNH Hall of Fame for football as well as the Marblehead Hall of Fame.

Dick is survived by his wife Mary of 60 years and their five children, Lynne Paradis, Scott (Anne) Mezquita, Carrie (Patrick) McDonough, Brad (Karen) Mezquita, Matthew Mezquita and Heather Goldsmith (predeceased). He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A private ceremony for immediate family will be held in Marblehead, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held at DiBurro’s in Haverhill, Massachusetts on October 17th from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Dick’s memory to UNH Football through unh.edu/give/athletics.

Greenland- Clarence “Hank” Gebo, 84 of Greenland died
Monday,September 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family
He was born September 26, 1936 in Amesbury, MA. the son of
the late Cecelia (Thiverge) Gebo.
Hank lived most of his life in Exeter with his wife,
until they moved to Greenland in 2007.
He worked for 35 years at Philips Exeter Academy
and was in charge of maintaining and making ice for the rinks.
Hank also worked keeping the athletic fields and school
grounds neat and organized.
Hank was an avid golfer with his son Don, and a former
member of Exeter Country Club and Pease Golf Course.
He was also an active member of St. Michaels Church in
Exeter, making crafts for the church fairs.
Family members include his wife of 65 years Aline L.(Brien)
Gebo, his children Paula Rowe and her husband Tim.
Don Gebo and his wife Patty, Annette Lyster and her
husband Rusty, and son Mark Gebo. Also 8 grandchildren
and 5 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at St. Michael Church, corner of Front and
Lincoln Streets, Exeter on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 10 am.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
Burial will be private. If desired, donations may be made to
St. Vincent de Paul Society.

LEO EDMOND GRIMARD
Leo Edmond Grimard, 88, of Epping left this world peacefully at his home on Monday, September 6, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Born April 30, 1933, in Epping, Leo was the son of the late Edmond and Alberta (Desjardins) Grimard and the youngest of five children. He was a lifelong resident of Epping, attended Epping Schools and served in the Army during the Korean War.
Leo loved a simple life, hard work and people. He was a devoted family man and the proud patriarch of five generations. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and did whatever he could to help others. Leo lived by example, was a true gentleman and was known for his friendly and positive outlook. His responses to most of life’s challenges were, “no problem”, “oh well.” or “what are you going to do”.
Leo was proud and passionate about his work as a brickmaker and forklift operator for W.S. Goodrich in Epping for over 32 years. After retiring from the brickyard, Leo operated a firewood business with his late wife, Nancy, for almost 20 years.
Starting work at the brickyard at the young age of 13, Leo loved talking about the brickyard’s history and sharing fascinating stories about the hard work, long hours and the men he worked with. Leo enjoyed spending time with family and friends, driving his 1963 Chevy II, cutting firewood, doing yardwork and expressing his creativity through woodworking and other projects like making birdbaths out of bricks or rocks.
Leo is predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years Nancy Lee (Williams) Grimard and his oldest daughter Dale Nora Collins. He is survived by two daughters Leona Nancy Glidden and Cindy Lynn Grimard-Goss both of Epping. Leo was a proud grandfather, leaving three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren, including his grandson Leo ‘Buck’ Glidden, his wife Kristen and their sons Brett, Brandon and Mason; granddaughter Sherry Emmons, her husband Shane and their son Tyler and his wife Callia and their daughters Aurora, Ava and Isabella; and granddaughter Hope Myrissa Goss and her son Brixton. Leo also leaves sister-in-law Mary Petit of Exeter, wife of the late Normand Petit, former son-in-law Michael Goss of Epping and several nieces and nephews.
Leo is also predeceased by his grandson Craig Collins, son-in-law Waldo Glidden and stepfather Walter Gurski all of Epping, as well as four sisters and their husbands, Yvonne and Howard Beckman of Kensington, Lina and Robert Hamel of Newfields, Helen and Albert ‘Pikey’ Piecuch of Epping and Mary Rose ‘Elianne’ and Albert ‘Sonny’ Poliquin of Epping.
Leo will be deeply and forever missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Epping Fire and Rescue, 37 Pleasant Street, Epping, NH 03042 in memory of both Leo and Nancy Grimard.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited for the visiting hours to be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, in Exeter on Sunday, September 12 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Private burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Epping.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jamal Mobed, M.D., age 88 of Brentwood, NH. Jamal passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 peacefully surrounded by family and a tremendous amount of love. Passing on Father’s Day was fitting and symbolic of his role as Patriarch of our family.

Jamal was born on February 9, 1933,in Rezaiyeh (now Urmia) West Azerbaijan province, Iran. The youngest son from a prominent Iranian family. He was the youngest of nine siblings, four brothers and four sisters.

Jamal graduated with a Medical Degree from the University of Tehran, Iran in 1958. On his own, with $100 in his pocket, he made the 7,000 mile journey to the United States. He would tell stories of renting a room at the local YMCA.

In 1961, Jamal married, and they had three children. Through the years, they had lived in Iran and Massachusetts. In 1967, he joined the medical staff at Worcester Hahnemann Hospital, Worcester, Massachusetts. In November of 1969, after becoming board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Jamal was offered a position at Worcester Hahnemann Hospital with privileges in both obstetrics and gynecology. In January of 1971,Jamal Mobed became a United States citizen. It was in Worcester, MA that he worked in private practice as an OB/GYN for the next 45 years. During this time, Jamal literally delivered thousands of babies. Back in the day, patients would have Jamal’s home phone number and call 24/7 for all of their medical needs. His patients were like family.

In addition to his passion for medicine, Jamal had a passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge. In his spare time, he would read encyclopedias and periodicals. A dictionary by his bedside at all times. He was a lover of old classic movies including westerns. Johnny Guitar was a favorite. He was an animal lover. Jamal loved to garden and had many magazine worthy flower beds. He planted flowers, fruits and vegetables. He was a lover of nature. He loved standing in the rain under a good thunderstorm. He loved the views and peace of the mountains and ocean. Jamal had an antique Cadillac Sedan Deville that he drove with pride. He was able to showcase his car in the local 4th of July parade.

Jamal was a gifted physician, possessed a green thumb, but nothing could ever compare to his love and devotion for his family. Jamal was involved in his grandkids' lives. It was not uncommon for him to try to climb in the kids' bounce house, play hide and seek, sing a song and dance with the kids. We enjoyed weekly family dinners at his home.

Jamal will be missed by many, but most especially by his three children,daughter and son in law and six grandchildren., Ret. Capt. Jeffrey N Mobed USN and wife Desiree, David A Mobed, Rep. Melissa A Litchfield and husband Brad, and six grandchildren, Lt David Mobed USN, Nathan Mobed, Alex Litchfield, Emily Litchfield, Hollee Litchfield, and Jake Litchfield.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833. A Memorial service will be held immediately following the calling hours. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home and donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to either St. Patrick Parish, P.O. Box 60, Whitinsville, MA 01588 or to the New Hampshire Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, P.O. Box 196, 104 Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham, NH 03885.
