Do you have a child who struggles with behavioral issues? I created a Guide to redirect behavioral issues in the classroom and at home.
A characteristic trait of children with Executive Control diagnoses ( ADHD OCD or ODD) is their brain is unable to apply hindsight and foresight in a millisecond to make good decisions like others can. It's not a learning issue, it's a processing issue. Their brain needs time to catch up and identify what they did wrong, in the timeframe needed to be successful.
When firing correctly, the executive control center of our brain scans our experiences to help us make good decisions, using hindsight and foresight.
All this processing happens in milliseconds to help us function more successfully in the world. But for kids with diagnoses that affect executive control function, that processing is delayed. We call them impulsive and say they don't think before they act, but it's really that their brain needs a little more time to process.
This system gives their brain the time to do that. Thanks to neuro plasticity, the quiet repetition of this system allows correct responses to become easier and more automatic.
