Let’s talk about non-directed or paired exchange donation.

In a paired kidney exchange, a donor is willing to donate on your behalf, but they are not compatible with your blood and tissue type. With paired kidney exchange, the donor will donate their kidney to another recipient in exchange for a compatible kidney for the person they wanted to help.

At least two lives are saved!

The average wait time for a deceased donor kidney is 3-5 years and can be up to 10 years in some parts of the country. A living kidney donor can help me get “off the list” sooner and on to living my life.

For those living with kidney failure, there are only two treatment options: dialysis or a transplant. I’m currently relying on dialysis to stay alive while I search for a matching kidney donor.

A new kidney will give me freedom off dialysis so I can spend meaningful time with my family and friends. I would like to return to work and pursue a career working with animals or children.

A new kidney would allow me to fulfill my dream of starting a family through adoption, something that every 26-year-old woman should have the chance to do. I will be able to travel freely and visit my sister in Virginia, without the constraints of dialysis.
