💪 Isometrics Are Back!
An isometric exercise is a “no movement” exercise. The word isometric comes from roots meaning “same length”—your muscles are working, but they’re not changing length because you’re holding a position instead of moving.
Why does this make sense for your back?
Your back muscles aren’t designed to make big, powerful movements like your biceps. Instead, they work all day long making small adjustments to keep you upright, balanced, and stable. They are endurance muscles.
That’s why isometric exercises can be so effective for building strength and stability in your back and core.
Three great examples include:
✅ Plank
✅ Crab Pose
✅ Horse Riding Stance
(See illustrations below.)
Instead of doing lots of repetitions, try holding these positions:
🔹 3 sets
🔹 20-second holds
🔹 Focus on staying as still and as straight as possible
You may be surprised how challenging these exercises are—and how quickly they help improve strength, posture, and stability.
Give them a try!
