📢 Important Medicaid Update for Virginia Members
Major changes to Medicaid eligibility are coming. Here's what you need to know:
⚠️ Starting October 1, 2026
Eligibility for non-U.S. citizen adults will be limited to Legal Permanent Residents, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, and COFA Migrants. Children and pregnant/postpartum members are not affected.
📅 Starting January 1, 2027
✔️ Retroactive coverage will be reduced to 1-2 months (currently up to 3)
✔️ Medicaid Expansion members will have eligibility reviewed every 6 months instead of yearly
✔️ Most non-pregnant adults ages 19-64 will need to work, volunteer, or participate in a training/education program to keep their coverage
What members should do right now:
📬 Check your mail, email, and texts regularly
📝 Update your address and contact info
📖 Read all letters from Cardinal Care and respond quickly
