Marla Sue Shoaff, 62, of Fairfield passed away at 12:15AM on Wednesday September 2, 2026, at her home. Marla was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 24, 1964, to James D. and Hattie (Suddarth) Marsh.

Marla is survived by her husband, Randy Shoaff of Fairfield; son, Mark Shoaff of Fairfield; daughters, Lisa Shoaff of Fairfield, and Sandy (Dallas) Barbre of Geff; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Kim (George) Musgrave of Fairfield, Terrisa (Lloyd) Vaughan of Burnt Prairie, Liz (Richard) Attebery of Geff, and Sheila (Brad) Auvil of Fairfield; brothers, Keith (Pam) Hooper of Fairfield, and Richard (Amy) Hooper of Fairfield, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Marla was preceded in death by her mother Hattie Hooper; fathers, James D. Marsh, and Elsworth Hooper; and In-Laws, Wilbur, and Norma Shoaff.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday September 4, 2026, at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois and will be accepted at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home.

Rhonda F. Helms, 72, of Fairfield, passed away at 5:40pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her home.

Rhonda was born on May 11, 1954, in Fairfield, IL, to Glen and Lyndall (Hodge) Ewing. She was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Okinawa, Japan and Pirmasens, Germany, where she met and married the love of her life, Ira Helms, on February 11, 1977.

Rhonda was a member of the Rock Community Church and had also worked as an insurance agent for Moore Insurance in Fairfield. She enjoyed spending her time sitting in the sun, along with crocheting and cross-stitching. Rhonda and her family had just returned recently from her favorite vacation destination, Panama City Beach, FL, where she loved to sit in the sun on the beach and eat seafood.

Survivors include her mother Lyndall Ewing of Fairfield, her daughters Mandy (Mike) Winter of Springerton and Melissa (Ben) Gates of Fairfield, her step-son Mike (Chrissy) Helms of Deptford, New Jersey, her grandchildren Nicole (Dustin) Young, Zac (Alexis) Helms-Gates, Christian (Hailey) Helms-Gates, Abebi (Christian) Hinkle, Jake Winter, her step-grandchildren Mike Helms, Jr., Patrick Helms, and Zach Helms, her great grandchildren Kallen Moore, Liam Hinkle, Josiah Hinkle, James Young, Gypsy Helms-Gates, Audrey Hinkle, and Kimber Young, her siblings Leslie (Dena) Ewing and Mona Grisham both of Fairfield and Dale (Cathy Kimbrell) Ewing of Geff, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Ewing, a step-grandson Dominick Helms, and her Aunt Betty Murphy and Uncle Lex Hodge.

Funeral services will be at 1pm on Monday, August 31st , at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial to follow in Cumberland Chapel Cemetery north of Fairfield. Military rites will be provided by the Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the National Scleroderma Foundation and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Homer O. Clark Jr., 98 of Fairfield, passed away at 1:13 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Skilled Care. He was a US Navy Veteran, retired as a Sergeant from the Illinois State Police with 25 years of service, had been an FCHS bus driver for 17 years, and worked for the Big Mound Township Road Commissioner.

Homer was born September 26, 1927, in Crouch Township of Hamilton County, to Homer and Opal (Siela) Clark. On September 7, 1953, he married Shirley Anstett.

Homer was a member of the St Edward Catholic Church and was a long-time member of the Fairfield Gun Club. He helped anyone who needed help and enjoyed shooting and traveling. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his son Mike (Penny) Clark of Peoria, Arizona, son-in-law Rodney Garrison of Fairfield, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, and a brother Thomas Clark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, daughters Mary Clark and Peggy Garrison, brother Robert, and 5 sisters- Louise, Laurie, Lavon, Linda, and Pam.

Per Homer’s request he will be cremated and interred with Shirley at the Garrison Cemetery. Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is handling cremation.

Sharon R. Miranda, 80, of Fairfield, passed away at 1:07pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Fairfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation.

Sharon was born on April 6, 1946, in Fairfield, to Luther and Phoniee (Buchanan) Dunn. On April 8, 1986, she married the love of her life, Manuel Miranda, who preceded her in death in December, 2024.

Sharon had worked at the sewing factory, Champion Laboratory, home care for the elderly, Tipperary House, Buy-Low, and Huck’s. She loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. Sharon was blessed to have a wonderful church family and her beautiful friends Becky Weber, Sonya, and Emma Alice.

Survivors include her daughter Kim Quesada of Fairfield, sons Joe (Ester) Robles and Robert (Aurora) Miranda both of Forney, TX, her grandchildren Kassidy (Evan) Quesada, Kaven Hilpert, Ashley Robles, Joe Jr (Mary) Robles, Steven (Celina) Robles, Jessica (Mike) Birch, and Tina Miranda, her great grandchildren Anthony, Beni, Maddox, Phoenix, Jacob, Issac, Gabriel, Miranda, Adreinna, and Roman, her brother Loren Lee (Deborah) Dunn of Fairfield, sisters-in-law Janis Dunn of Fairfield and Alice Dunn of Mt. Carmel, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Manuel Miranda, and her siblings Luther Lee Dunn, Alvin Dunn, Dewey Dunn, Charles Dunn, Violet Thomason, Catherine Johnston, Rita Bryant, and Bernadine Jordan, along with infant siblings Henry, Harry James, Jerry, and Nancy.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Saturday, August 29th, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service at the funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to Residential Hospice and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Dale E. Kanady, 76, of Fairfield, unexpectedly passed away at 3:41pm on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Dale was born on October 6, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, IL, to Charles and Kathleen (Baldwin) Kanady.

Dale dedicated more than 45 years to a career in accounting, working for Fairfield National Bank, Wayne White Electric, and Fairfield Ambulance Service. Even after retiring, Dale did not slow down. He stayed busy unloading trucks at Save A Lot before meeting his buddies for breakfast several times per week.

While he worked hard, nothing meant more to Dale than his family. Teresa and his daughters were always "his girls," and he loved them fiercely. His other greatest joy was being a grandpa. He spent countless hours chasing after his grandkids and taking them on tractor rides.

Dale was a proud, lifelong resident of Fairfield, aside from his time serving in the Army Reserves and attending the University of Illinois, where he was a member of the marching band. He remained a loyal Illini football and basketball fan throughout his life. He enjoyed family meals around the kitchen table, ice cream and cookies every night before bed, and coffee served at molten lava temperature.

Dale will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His family will miss him deeply and forever cherish the laughter and memories they shared.

He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Teresa Kanady; his daughters, Amber Kanady and J'ne Erlenbush (Brian); his treasured grandchildren, Briar and Shyler Erlenbush; and his beloved dog, Domino.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Dale Kanady will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, August 15th, at the Johnson & Vaughn in Fairfield, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Johnson, 79 of Fairfield, passed away at 12:10 AM, Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Skilled Care Unit. Born on February 27, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, IL to Donnie and Louise (Delmotte) Johnson, he had worked for Halliburton in Henderson, KY and then in the fuel lab at Airtex Products before retiring.

Dennis is survived by his wife Connie of Fairfield, daughters Debbie Kinney of Fairfield and Denise Johnson of West Frankfort, IL, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a brother Larry (Debbie) Johnson of Howey in the Hills, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis will be cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 10th at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Fairfield Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit and will be accepted at the service or the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home.

Terri Vaughan, 61 of Fairfield, passed away at 8:35 AM, Sunday, August 2, 2026, at White County Rehab and Nursing in Carmi. Born on December 8, 1964, in Joliet, IL to Freddie and Patsy (Laird) Vaughan Sr., she had been an apartment complex representative.

Terri is survived by her son Paul Collins III of Fairfield, brothers Freddie (Jamie) Vaughan of Fairfield and Kevin (Deborah) Vaughan of Chatsworth, IL, and a sister Julie (Daniel) Berg of Rutledge, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Patrick Vaughan.

Terri will be cremated and no formal services will be held at this time.

Tyler Mason, 27, of Fairfield passed away at 6:23PM on Thursday July 30, 2026, at the Linda E White Hospice House in Evansville IN. He was born on April 15, 1999, in Evansville, to Stephen and Trisha (Stennett) Mason.

Tyler, along with his family, did not let his disability slow him down. Besides spending his time at Brownsville School, he also enjoyed going on cruises, traveling to new places and following his brothers to their sporting events and more recently to visit them in college. Tyler always had a love for music, fireworks, being outside, listening to birds and floating in the pool on hot days. Tyler had a smile that could light up a room and that will be missed greatly.

Tyler is survived by his parents, Steve and Trisha Mason; brothers, Trenton and Trey Mason; grandparents, Delores Mason, Gregory Max and Anita Tipps, and Marsha Stennett; aunt and uncle, Keith and Cathy Spence; special cousin, Megan Spence; cousins, Amber Lovato and family, Jordan Spence and family; many other loving family members and friends also survive.

Tyler was preceded in death by grandfathers, Ron Mason and Lonnie Stennett, and many loving great grandparents.

The family would like to say a special thanks to all who loved Tyler over the 27 years including Dr. Jed Jones for his commitment and care to Tyler from the beginning, Nina Dunn who was Tyler’s aid during his school years, and all of the people that had an impact on Tyler’s life throughout the years.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday August 5, 2026, at the Fairfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7PM on Tuesday August 4 at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Brownsville School or Linda E White Hospice House and will be accepted at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home.
