This Red Ribbon Week, Archway is highlighting the everyday conversations that support substance use prevention. As parents, caregivers, educators, and neighbors, we can make time to listen, share age-appropriate information, and help young people navigate pressure without judgment.

Start with a simple question: “What have you heard about alcohol or other drugs?” Then make room for their answer.

Our mission includes prevention that builds healthier, more resilient communities. That work includes helping children feel respected, connected, and comfortable asking for support.

Strong Communities Begin with Trust

Trust grows through opportunities to learn, ask questions, and understand one another.

Archway’s Chief Operations Officer, Wanda Cook, recently presented at Vacaville’s Noon Rotary to raise awareness of Archway’s work. We also welcomed Dr. Jeff Gaborko from Kaiser and the Solano Collaborative Courts team for tours of our new facility.

These conversations are part of building relationships with people and organizations that can help strengthen our community’s understanding of addiction, treatment, and recovery support.

As September comes to a close, we recognize both Recovery Month and Su***de Prevention Month — two important reminders that substance use, mental health challenges, and su***de can affect people from every walk of life.

There is no single face of addiction. There is no single face of someone who may be struggling. These challenges cross age, gender, culture, income, profession, and circumstance.

That is why reducing stigma matters.

When we lead with dignity, compassion, and connection, we make it easier for people to talk openly, ask for help, and know they are not alone.

At Archway Recovery Services, we believe in the potential of every person and in the power of community to create hope and support recovery.

Dignity Day: Community in Action 💙

This year marked Archway Recovery Services’ first official participation in Dignity Day in Vallejo, and we were grateful to be part of it!

What began with a vision from Dr. Hester in 2021 has grown into an incredible community effort bringing organizations, volunteers and service providers together to support people experiencing homelessness with dignity and care.

From mobile showers, haircuts and new clothes and shoes to health services, housing assistance, hot meals and more, it was impressive to see so many resources available in one place.

Archway was there to share information about substance use disorder treatment and help connect people with treatment resources when needed.

We’re grateful to have participated alongside so many organizations serving our community and look forward to being part of Dignity Day again!

This month, we celebrate recovery — and the people who choose it, day after day.

Recovery isn't one decision or one moment. It's built through choices made consistently over time. Those choices can lead to renewed relationships, greater stability, new opportunities and a different path forward.

We also recognize the people who show up along the way — family and friends, peers, counselors, treatment professionals and others who offer support, encouragement and care.

At Archway Recovery Services, we're proud to be part of that support system and to walk alongside the people we serve as they do the work of recovery.

This month, we celebrate the work, the progress, the people doing it — and the people who stand beside them.

Community Connections: Leaders of Men
Archway Recovery Services was pleased to support Leaders of Men Inc.’s Youth Empowerment Weekend in Fairfield.

We recently had the opportunity to meet with founder Anthony MacDonald and learn more about the work Leaders of Men is doing with young men and women through mentorship, leadership development, emotional intelligence and healthy relationships.

Youth Empowerment Weekend brought young people and families together for honest conversations, resources and connection—all centered around helping young people build confidence, strengthen relationships and develop skills they can carry forward.

As Archway begins to explore more opportunities around youth prevention, relationships with organizations already working directly with young people and families are important. We look forward to continuing the conversation with Anthony and Leaders of Men and seeing where we can work together.

Thank you to Leaders of Men and St. Stephen CME Church for creating space for young people and families in our community.
