This recognition is a true reflection of Dr. Stauder’s dedication to his patients, his profession, and the communities he serves. We are incredibly proud of this well-deserved honor and grateful to have such an outstanding leader at Precision EyeCare Centers. We are so glad and proud to have him leading our team!🤍

Congratulations to Paul Stauder, OD, recipient of the 2026 Optometrist of the Year award!

Dr. Stauder attended the University of Illinois from 1991 to 1994 before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1998. Following graduation, Paul moved to Fairfield, where he purchased a practice from his brother, Dr. Scott Wooley. He continues to practice full-scope primary care optometry there today. More recently, Paul purchased a second location from Scott as his brother began transitioning into semi-retirement.

Throughout his career, Paul has demonstrated a deep commitment not only to his patients, but also to organized optometry and the future of the profession. He is a past president of the Southern Illinois Optometric Society and was recognized as the IOA Young Optometrist of the Year in 2007. He went on to serve as President of the Illinois Optometric Association in 2014–2015.

But Paul’s service certainly didn’t end with his presidency.

Today, he serves as Chair of the IOA PAC Board and remains actively engaged in advocacy as a state and federal key person for several legislators. Paul has long believed that optometrists have a responsibility to be engaged in protecting and advancing their profession. In fact, if you spend much time talking with him about advocacy, there is one message you are almost certain to hear: every optometrist should contribute to the PAC.

That commitment to advocacy, leadership, service, and his profession has been a constant throughout Paul’s career.

Dr. Stauder is the father of four children, Kelsey, Kyle, Emma, and Andi Anne. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his children and wife Leanne, hunting, and being outdoors.
