Community Nurse is a nonprofit, independent home care agency providing visiting nurse, hospice, private care, and wellness services to southeastern Massachusetts since 1916. In alignment with our mission to bring compassionate healthcare services home, we provide a range of comprehensive health care and social services to meet patient needs through personalized care in the community and within the

privacy of home. Importantly, Community Nurse offers all members of our community access to quality healthcare no matter the economic environment, amount of insurance reimbursement, or complexity of illness. We strive to exceed expectations and continue to develop innovative programs and services to meet community health needs. Community Nurse was named in 2019 as one of the top 100 home care agencies in the country by HomeCare Elite and received five stars (the highest ranking) from the CMS for patient outcomes.

This is the last weekend to support Community Nurse through the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program. Purchase a reusable Community Bag at the 438 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford Stop & Shop, and $1 will be donated to Community Nurse.

This month, we’re shining our Staff Spotlight on Vanessa, our IT Coordinator!

Her work is important to our clinical staff in the field, helping ensure they can securely access the information and medical records they need to provide timely, compassionate care wherever our patients call home.

Vanessa is a trusted resource for our entire team. She is responsive, knowledgeable, and always willing to lend a hand.

Get to Know Vanessa:
What is one piece of technology advice you find yourself giving staff all the time?
“Restart it!” It sounds simple, but you’d be surprised how many issues are fixed by a quick restart.

What do you enjoy most about working at Community Nurse?
“I enjoy knowing that the work I do behind the scenes helps our clinicians provide great care to patients. Even though I’m in IT, I feel connected to our mission of caring for people at home.”
