Last week Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center my department and I put on a “Cruise Week” which featured almost anything exciting that we experience on a cruise ship;
A “Bon Voyage” Cocktail Party with an an incredible Island Drummer -
Performer George, An afternoon at the Casino , A Karaoke Party , A Comedy Show with three Amazing Comedians, along with a Hawaiin Buffet . The highlight and closing of the week was the tip of the iceberg. It packed our dining room with excitement and joyous memories .. Elvis was in the house and I can’t thank my impersonator friend and National Elvis Champion Rick Anthony: Elvis Tribute Artist for creating some wonderful memories for our residents. I’ll never be able to top this one .

Thursdays Day Cruise Thene .
“Make Me Laugh in Hawaii”
The residents and staff enjoyed a beautiful Hawaiin lunch prepared and served by our amazing dietary department ., They enjoyed Prime Rib, Pine Apple Rice , Sweet and Sour Chicken, Shrimp and a lovely dessert table .
After lunch they enjoyed an afternoon “Comedy Hour” with local comedian Santos and 2 Boston Comedians Dennis Mall and Mary Beth .. The room was full of laughter. Another great day on our cruise ship ! 🚢 @

Love Came to Alden: Katie & Greg’s Wedding -Friday, August 7

Several months ago, Katie, daughter of our resident Thomas McMullin, shared with Sharon Jensen, Director of Activities, that she was getting married. Katie wasn’t sure her dad would be able to attend the wedding due to his health.

Sharon’s response: “Then let’s bring the wedding to Alden.”

And that’s exactly what happened.

After their initial ceremony in early August, Katie and Greg said “I do” again — this time at Alden — so her dad and fellow residents could be part of their big day.

The Activities Department -with Activity Assistant -Chelcie Desnoyers hosting the day -turned Katie’s wish into reality and made it the theme for the entire day: “Wedding Memories.” Residents enjoyed special programs all day focused on love and marriage, leading up to the live ceremony that afternoon.

There were beautiful decorations, music, a cake cutting, and so much more. The event was so touching it even brought Channel 5 News out to cover it.

Residents are still raving about it, and we don’t blame them. It was a day full of tears, smiles, and love.

Congratulations to the happy couple, Katie & Greg! Thank you for letting us be part of your story. And a huge thank you to the Activities Department for making the impossible possible.
