We’d like you to get to know another member of the Ascend team: Dr. Dan Langer.

Dr. Dan is a Licensed Psychologist in Ohio with extensive experience helping people through some of the more difficult and complex challenges that can affect mental health. His clinical work includes treating mood disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, and suicidal ideation.

Throughout his career, he has also worked extensively in individual counseling, family and marriage therapy, and addiction recovery counseling. That broad background gives him an understanding of how mental health can affect not only the individual, but also relationships and everyday life.

We’re thankful to have Dr. Dan’s experience and perspective on our team as we continue helping patients find a path forward that fits their needs.

If you’re a therapist, primary care provider, chiropractor, or other healthcare professional with a patient who may benefit from additional support, we want you to know how referrals work at Ascend.

Our goal is not to replace the care or relationship you’ve already built with your patient. We’re here to provide specialized treatment when it’s needed, help stabilize the concerns that brought them to us, and keep communication open along the way.

Your patient remains your patient. Think of Ascend as an extension of the care you’re already providing, with our team available to offer additional expertise and support when the situation calls for it.

At-home ketamine has become much more common over the last few years, and we get asked about it often. We understand the appeal. It’s convenient, and for some people, it can feel like an easier way to finally try something new.

At Ascend, ketamine therapy is provided in person as part of a medically supervised treatment plan.

Ketamine can affect blood pressure and heart rate, so we want a clinician monitoring you in real time. If your response is stronger than expected, someone trained to step in is already there. Your dose is also tailored to you specifically, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

We want you to feel supported, monitored, and cared for throughout the entire treatment experience.

It's National Recovery Month, and most of what you'll see this month is about substance use. That work is important, but it's also not the only kind of recovery we see with our patients.

A lot of our patients are recovering from a different kind of cycle: more medications, more appointments, and less function every year.

The goal we work toward is the same either way. Need less over time, not more.

If that's the kind of recovery you're working toward, reach out. We'll be here to help when you're ready.

As the seasons change and schedules start to shift, you may notice your energy changing too. Giving yourself time to adjust can help prevent an already busy season from becoming overwhelming.

A few simple ways to support yourself:

1. Anchor your mornings.
Keep your wake-up time consistent to help your internal clock adjust as daylight hours shift.

2. Catch early light.
Spending some time outside in the morning can help support your natural sleep-wake cycle.

3. Tweak, don't overhaul.
Focus on adjusting one or two habits instead of trying to create an entirely new routine overnight.

4. Schedule micro-pauses.
Give yourself a few minutes between tasks when you can, rather than moving immediately from one thing to the next.

5. Listen to your battery.
When your energy is low, it's okay to choose rest over another commitment.

Small adjustments can make seasonal transitions easier. If fatigue, burnout, or changes in your mood are becoming difficult to manage, our team is here to help.

This is a question we often hear, usually when someone starts to feel like themselves again and gets worried about losing it.

If you've been putting off TMS because you thought the relief would be temporary, we'd be glad to walk you through what it actually looks like.

When we talk about treating the whole person, we mean taking the time to understand more than just a diagnosis or a list of symptoms.

Many factors can influence how we feel physically and mentally. By looking at the bigger picture, our team can create a treatment plan that's personalized to your unique needs, experiences, and goals because no two people have the exact same path to better health.

One of the things we talk about a lot at Ascend is the idea of independence over dependence.

It sounds like a philosophy. But in practice, it is pretty specific.

It means the goal of treatment is for you to need us less over time, not more. It means a treatment plan with no endpoint is a plan worth questioning. It means if a patient comes back for a maintenance session six months after finishing treatment, something worked.

The medical system is often designed in the opposite direction. The longer you are sick, the more appointments you need, the more medications you are on. That is not the model here.

If you’re looking for care that is built around helping you move forward, our team is here to talk through your options.

Chronic pain and depression are often connected in ways that aren't always obvious.

Living with ongoing pain can affect sleep, energy, and daily life, while depression can make pain feel even more difficult to manage. Because these conditions can influence one another, it's important to look at the whole picture rather than treating them as separate concerns.

We take the time to understand how your physical and mental health work together so we can create a treatment plan that's personalized to you.
