THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by to see us yesterday at Fairmont’s Pride Celebration!

Special thanks to Fairmont Pride and mainstreetfairmont for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful event!

Additional thanks to Solid Ground Therapy Services, openbookpsychotherapy, and organiccounseling who helped staff the tables, and others who contributed to the list of Mental Health Professionals supporting LGBTQ+ in our communities.

Lastly, but certainly not least, thank you Fairmont for being a place where folx can openly be themselves!

Juneteenth highlights the ongoing need to include those most affected in the conversation, and for the rest of us to be informed. It is a harsh reminder of how systems work disproportionately across race and socioeconomic demographics. We can and will do better.

💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Did you know?
Mental Health Awareness Month was created in 1949 by Mental Health America as a campaign to reduce stigma and increase access to resources that promote mental well-being. The green ribbon represents hope, unity, and strength as a symbol of support.

This year’s theme: More Good Days, Together
Good is a subjective term and different for all of us. We recognize togetherness as a common catalyst for wellness. Our bonds and sense of belonging promote healing and growth. Simply put: we need each other.

How can you get involved?
💚 Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 16th from 10am - 2pm. Come see me and other local therapists at Music on Monroe! We will have a table at this year’s kickoff Hometown Market in Fairmont with information and free items, including the coloring page you see here. Print, create, and bring it with you! I’d love to see your creation!
💚 Head over to Mental Health America’s webpage to check out their campaign guide for free printable and post-able materials. There are also many activities and self-help resources available.
💚 Seek out or start actions in your community that support mental wellness.
💚 Start a conversation with someone. Hope and strength can be subtle shifts that happen in small moments. Your effort may matter more than you know. 🗒️ On that note: The conversation can start here. If you’d like, please leave a comment with something that brings you a sense of “good,” peace, joy, strength, or hope.

Happy Social Work Month!
https://tinyurl.com/5n8uunvn
Social workers are well-educated, train for years and develop expertise not just to change people, but to reshape systems that can help people live far richer and improved lives. Our society over the course of the last year has seen incredible upheavals that have changed our economy, the way we access and pay for care, and interact with one another.
That is why this year’s theme is Social Workers: Uplift. Defend. Transform.
