A calm, beautiful birth story and a stressed baby nervous system aren't mutually exclusive β€” and that surprises a lot of parents. 🀍

Even in the gentlest births, baby's body absorbs significant physical forces simply moving through the birth canal β€” compression, rotation, and traction on the head, neck, and spine that every baby experiences to some degree, regardless of how smoothly the birth went.

This isn't about anything going "wrong"; it's simply what the birth process asks of a tiny, still-developing body. That physical stress can show up afterward as difficulty settling, a preference for turning the head one direction, trouble feeding on one side, or a nervous system that seems to stay a little more "wound up" than expected.

That's why we love checking newborns early: a gentle, non-invasive scan lets us see how their neuro-spinal system is adapting to life outside the womb, so we can support that transition from the very start.

Fun fact - Dr. Meghan specializes in emotional adjusting and Neuroprocessing to help release trapped emotions.

As the nervous system releases stored tension and stress, it's not uncommon for emotions to surface right alongside physical shifts.

This is your body's innate intelligence doing exactly what it's designed to do: process and release.

If you've ever felt unexpectedly tender, teary, or lighter after care, you're not alone β€” and it's not something to fear.

We check healthy kids all the time β€” and here's why.

Chiropractic care isn't about waiting for symptoms to appear; it's about making sure a child's neuro-spinal system is clear and connected so their body can adapt well to everyday stressors, and childhood brings a lot of those: falls off the playground, growth spurts, hours hunched over screens or in a classroom desk, and the emotional load of big feelings they're still learning to process.

Every one of those stressors is something the nervous system has to register and adapt to, whether we notice it or not.

Think of it as proactive care for the nervous system, the same way regular checkups support the rest of the body, rather than a reaction to something being wrong.

Dysregulation doesn't always look dramatic β€” most of the time, it looks like the stuff we've just learned to live with.

When your nervous system spends too much time stuck in "fight or flight" instead of moving fluidly between stress and rest, your body starts showing signs of that imbalance in ways that are easy to write off as normal: the tension headache you get every afternoon, the jaw you didn't realize you'd been clenching, the shallow breathing you only notice when someone points it out, the digestive issues that flare with stress, the sleep that never quite feels restful, or the short fuse that shows up faster than it used to.

None of these are random β€” they're your nervous system's way of signaling that it's working overtime to keep up with everyday demands.

This is exactly what we look for with our INSiGHT scans: an objective, non-invasive look at how well your nervous system is adapting, so we can see dysregulation patterns before they turn into something more disruptive. If any of this sounds familiar, your body may be asking for support.

Does your baby seem to favor one side? Arch their back during feeds? Struggle to settle, even when they're fed, changed, and should be comfortable? Their little body might be holding more tension than you'd expect.
Birth β€” even a smooth one β€” is physically demanding for a baby. They've spent months curled into one position in the womb, then moved through the birth canal, sometimes with interventions like forceps, vacuum assistance, or a C-section. All of that can leave tension and tightness in a baby's tiny, developing nervous system and spine.
This tightness can show up in ways parents don't always connect to each other: difficulty turning the head one direction, a strong preference for one side, trouble latching well on one side while nursing, excessive fussiness, or a hard time settling into sleep. It's not "just colic" or "just a fussy baby" β€” often, it's a body that's still holding the stress of how it arrived.
This is where gentle chiropractic care comes in. Pediatric adjustments for babies are incredibly gentle β€” nothing like an adult adjustment β€” using only the lightest pressure to help release that tension and support the nervous system in functioning the way it's designed to. When that tension eases, babies often settle more easily, feed more comfortably, and move more freely.
You don't have to wait for a "big" problem to get your baby checked. The earlier we support their nervous system, the better their body can adapt to this whole new world they just entered. πŸ’›

If you've felt your skin crawl the second someone β€” even your own baby β€” reaches for you again, you're not broken, and you're not a bad mom. You're touched out, and there's real nervous system science behind it.

Postpartum life puts your body in near-constant physical contact: nursing, holding, carrying, soothing.

Add in crying, noise, and broken sleep, and your nervous system stays on high alert almost around the clock with very little time to reset.

Eventually, your body starts reading all of that input as a threat β€” not because anything is actually wrong, but because your nervous system has had no chance to come down out of fight-or-flight. That's where the irritability, the urge to escape touch, the feeling of wanting to crawl out of your own skin comes from.

It's a stress response.

This is exactly why nervous system support matters so much in postpartum care. At Anew, we help regulate the nervous system so your body has the capacity to tolerate touch and stimulation again β€” not just survive the day, but actually feel like yourself.

If you're in this season and feeling touched out, you are so deeply seen. We'd love to support you. πŸ’›

You know the one....that sharp, shooting pain in your hip, your low back, your pelvis β€” the kind that makes you stop mid-step and just... breathe through it.

If you've felt this during pregnancy, you are so not alone.

As your body grows and changes to make room for your baby, your center of gravity shifts, your ligaments soften, and your pelvis adapts in ways it's never had to before.
All of that is normal.

Has your toddler been walking on their toes more than their flat feet? You're not imagining it β€” and it's worth understanding what's actually happening in their little body.

A lot of toe walking gets brushed off as "just a phase" or a quirky habit. And sometimes it is. But when it becomes a consistent pattern past age 2, it's often the body's way of compensating for something deeper: tension in the dural system.

Here's what that means β€” the dura is connective tissue that wraps around the brain and spinal cord, running all the way down to the tailbone, with attachments near the heel. When tension builds anywhere along this system β€” from birth, a fall, or early development β€” it can pull the entire body into a guarded, tip-toe pattern. The legs, pelvis, and spine lose the freedom to move the way they're designed to, and toe walking becomes the path of least resistance.

This is why we look beyond the feet. Releasing tension throughout this connected system gives your child's body the freedom to move fully β€” flat feet included.

If you've noticed toe walking in your little one, we'd love to take a look. Early support can make a real difference. Swipe through to learn more. ➑️
