Breath is one of the few things that exists between the body and the mind.
It changes when we’re anxious. It changes when we feel safe. It changes when we’re angry, grieving, dissociating, grounded, connected.

Ancient yogic traditions understood something modern neuroscience is still exploring:
the breath doesn’t just reflect consciousness, it influences it.

Slow breathing can shift the nervous system.
Humming and chanting can stimulate the vagus nerve.
Rhythmic breath can alter attention, emotion, and perception.

The way we breathe can either reinforce survival mode… or help guide us back into presence.

This is why so many contemplative traditions begin with the breath first. Not because breathing is “magic,” but because awareness often begins there.
