Dear Dulcimer Patient, Family members and Friends,
When Dr. Denise Schavey and I founded Dulcimer Medical Center some 17 years ago we dreamed of a clinic that would put patients first, really listen to them, and partner with them on their journey towards health and wellness. By all measures we were successful beyond imagination. This was largely due to patients who believed in us and our model of care. We are forever indebted to you for the amazing time we have had at Dulcimer – where Harmony Enhances Health!
Of course, nothing lasts forever and as you may know United Hospital District (UHD) was looking to expand their Fairmont Clinic and interested in purchasing our building and Clinic. That happened in Dec of 2021. The clinic, however, was left to continue independent practice until March 1, 2024. Sadly, that is now just a few short weeks away. I wanted to write and let you know what was happening with your providers and medical records. The last day that we can see patients will be Friday, February 23. We need time to relocate the computers and servers and thus we will not be able to refill prescriptions or return phone calls following the close of business that Friday, February 23rd.
If you will be continuing care with a UHD provider, they will have access to all your Dulcimer medical records. If you will be transferring care to a provider outside of the UHD staff then a records release can be obtained from the UHD office.
Although I was initially expecting that all the Dulcimer providers would remain at UHD, that did not prove to be the case. Here is what is happening:
Two of our providers, Taylor Landkamer C-FNP and Kaylynn Steinkamp PA will remain at the UHD Fairmont Clinic. Appointments for both these providers can be made by calling the UHD appointment desk.

Samantha Farnum C-FNP and Nate Reyelts PA-C are excited to announce the opening of a new clinic which will be very much like Dulcimer in its culture and medical care. Their clinic will be called Cornerstone Clinic and will be located at 410 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont, MN. Becky Boer C-FNP and Lisa Ertman C-FNP will join them at the Cornerstone Clinic. Appointments can be made towards the end of February at the following number: 507-399-2100. More information can be found at their new web site https://cornerstone.clinic/coming-soon/
Amy Winter C-FNP has already relocated her practice to the Sanford Clinic in Jackson MN.
As for me (Dr. Parnell) I am not ready to retire. In the buyout, we negotiated that I could continue to practice Integrative and Functional Medicine, but could not continue to deliver babies, do OB care and regular primary care. The term “functional medicine” entails complementary and alternative therapy when it is in the best interest of patients and has the general meaning as set forth by the Cleveland Clinic on its website as follows:
The functional medicine model of care offers a patient-centered approach
to chronic disease management. It seeks to answer the question, “Why are
you ill?” so you can receive personalized, effective care for your needs.
Functional medicine providers spend time listening to you and gathering
your medical history. We use this information to identify the root cause(s)
of the illness, including triggers such as poor nutrition, stress, toxins,
allergens, genetics, and your microbiome (the bacteria living in and on your
body). – The Cleveland Clinic
My new clinic is Integrity Medical Center offering “Healing from the Inside Out”. It will be located at 717 South State Street Suite 600 in Fairmont (the Victoria State Crossing building). The phone number will be 507-235-2924 and more information will be available on the website www.integritymedicalcenter.org when it goes live in February. Of note, Integrity Medical Center will be out of network for all insurance companies.
ToniLynn Fleming RN has now been certified as a Natural Health Provider and will also be seeing patients at Integrity Natural Health, also at the address and number above. Information regarding the services she provides will be available in February.
It has been our sincere pleasure and might I say privilege to serve your health care needs at the Dulcimer Medical Center for the past 17 years. My prayer for you is to live a long and healthy life. We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as we go through this time of transition.
Sincerely yours,
Steven E. Parnell M.D.
