“Protecting your peace” can become another way to avoid healing.

Sometimes you’re genuinely protecting your peace.

And sometimes you’re avoiding the conversation, person, feeling, or situation that makes you uncomfortable.

Those aren’t always the same thing.

Healing isn’t supposed to make your world smaller and smaller until nothing is allowed inside that might disrupt you.

Sometimes healing is learning that you can be uncomfortable and still be okay.

That you can hear something you don’t like without falling apart.

That someone can misunderstand you without you needing to fix it.

That conflict can exist without becoming chaos.

That difficult emotions can move through you without consuming you.

There are absolutely people and situations we need boundaries from.

But I’ve started asking myself a different question when I feel the urge to shut something out:

Am I protecting my peace… or am I protecting myself from having to grow through discomfort?

Because peace that only exists when nothing challenges it is pretty fragile.

I want the kind of peace I can carry with me. ❤️

I abandoned myself again yesterday … even after everything I’ve been learning about choosing myself.

And the wild part is how quietly it happened.

I put in a call to a specialist because I want some answers about what’s been going on with my heart.

They happened to call me back while I was at the hospital getting my heart monitor put on. They explained that before they can see me, I need a referral from my current cardiologist.

The cardiologist I literally just met.

Simple enough, right?

Except almost immediately, I started worrying about how *he* might feel about me asking him to refer me to another doctor.

Would he think I didn’t trust him?
Would it offend him?
Would it seem like I was saying he wasn’t good enough?

And somehow, while I was literally sitting there having a heart monitor attached to my body because we still don’t know exactly what is happening with my heart, I was more concerned about protecting someone else’s hypothetical feelings than advocating for myself.

That realization hit me pretty hard.

Because people pleasing and self-abandonment don’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes they look like being “considerate.”
Not wanting to make someone uncomfortable.
Not wanting to be difficult.
Convincing ourselves that our needs can wait because we don’t want someone else to feel bad.

And I’ve spent a lot of time learning to choose myself. To listen to myself. To honor what my body and my intuition are telling me.

Yet here I am, still learning.

And this time, I didn’t recognize the pattern quite fast enough.

I hesitated. I didn’t make the call. And now the offices are closed until Tuesday.

My instinct to protect someone else from a discomfort that may not even exist actually delayed me advocating for myself.

I can’t undo that part. But I can recognize it for what it was.

And Tuesday, I’ll make the call.

Because healing doesn’t mean we never fall back into old patterns. Sometimes we catch ourselves afterward, learn from it, and choose differently the next time.

I can care about other people’s feelings without making myself responsible for them.

I can be kind without abandoning myself to prove it.

And if you recognize yourself somewhere in this too, maybe we both needed the reminder today:

You are allowed to advocate for yourself, even when doing so might make someone else uncomfortable. We have to stop sacrificing our own well-being just to make sure everyone else stays comfortable.

What if aura colors don’t mean what we’ve been taught they mean?

I’ve wondered about this for a long time…

What if the colors some people perceive in a person’s aura are connected to their chakras—not because chakras are literally spinning wheels of colored light, but because color is simply how our minds translate certain energy?

I’ve never viewed chakras as physical things we can actually see. To me, they’re more like a language for understanding energy.

So maybe when someone perceives a certain aura color, they’re picking up on the chakra energy that is speaking the loudest.

And “loudest” doesn’t necessarily mean strongest.

Maybe that chakra is actively steering the ship.

Or maybe it’s demanding attention because something there needs healing.

Same color. Completely different message.

Maybe the color isn’t the message at all.

Maybe it’s simply showing us where to look. 🖤

There’s something that happens when the person you love repeatedly fails to show up during the moments you need them most.

It starts teaching you things about yourself that were never true.

When you spend years handling your hardest moments alone, especially while having a partner, you start adapting.

You learn not to ask for help.

You learn to handle the crisis alone.

You learn that everyone else's needs come before yours.

You learn to say, "I'm fine. I've got it."

And eventually, you become so good at surviving without support that you can start believing you were supposed to do it alone in the first place.

But you weren't.

Someone else's inability to show up for you is NOT evidence of your worth.

Someone can love you and still fail you.

They can love you and still be selfish.

They can love you and still be really fu***ng bad at showing you just how much you matter.

Don't let their limitations become the way you see yourself.

Your needs matter.

Your fear matters.

You are allowed to need comfort, support and care.

Healing sometimes means unlearning the belief that being "the strong one" means you aren't allowed to need anyone.

And sometimes it means acknowledging a much harder truth:

Being repeatedly left alone in your hardest moments can make you afraid of the future.

You start wondering what happens when life gets harder.

When you get older.

When your body needs more from you.

When one day you simply can't be the person who handles everything alone.

But I'm learning something else too.

I may have chosen someone who doesn't always love me in the way I deserve to be loved.

That doesn't mean the love I dream of is something I don't deserve.

And if you have children watching you, fight like hell to teach them that too.

Teach them to show up for the people they love AND expect the people who love them to show up for them.

Teach them that their needs matter.

Teach them that boundaries and self-love aren't punishments.

They're promises we make to ourselves.

And maybe one of the most important promises is this:

Someone else's limitations do not get to become the limit on what I believe I am worthy of receiving.🖤

Protecting your energy doesn’t mean shutting everyone out.

It doesn’t mean cutting people off the moment they disappoint you, avoiding every difficult conversation or building walls so high that nobody can reach you.

Sometimes protecting your energy means having the uncomfortable conversation.

Sometimes it means asking for clarity instead of assuming the worst.

Sometimes it means allowing someone to love you without constantly preparing for the moment they hurt you.

And yes—sometimes it means walking away.

The difference is whether you’re creating a boundary from self-respect… or building a wall from fear.

Real healing isn’t becoming completely untouchable. It’s learning who deserves access, how much access they deserve and how to stay connected without abandoning yourself.

Your energy doesn’t need to be hidden away to be protected. It just needs to be honored—including by you. 🖤

You do not have to “raise your vibration” before receiving Reiki.

You can show up exhausted.
Angry. Anxious. Overstimulated.
Completely disconnected from yourself.

Reiki isn’t a reward for already being peaceful.

Sometimes the people who feel the most scattered don’t need another person telling them to “think positively.” They need a safe moment where they aren’t expected to perform, explain or hold everything together.

Come exactly as you are.

We can work with the energy that’s actually there—not the version of you pretending everything is fine. 🖤

Here is one of my biggest Reiki pet peeves 😂...but honestly, I have many

The idea that you have to **FEEL something** for Reiki to be “working.”

Heat in your hands.

Tingling.

Pulsing.

Seeing colors.

Crying.

Feeling energy shoot through your entire body while your ancestors descend from the ceiling to personally confirm your chakras are aligned. 😂

Listen... sometimes Reiki gets weird.

I've had sessions where the energy felt so strong it was impossible to ignore.

I've had people experience physical sensations, emotions, memories, colors, images or things they absolutely weren't expecting.

And I've also had sessions that were quiet as hell.

Both are completely valid.

One of the worst things we can do when introducing someone to energy work is give them a checklist of everything they're *supposed* to feel.

Because then instead of experiencing the session...

they're lying there thinking:

*Are my hands tingling yet?*

*Was that warmth Reiki or am I just hot?*

*Why don't I see colors?*

*Am I doing this wrong?*

No. 😂

You don't have to perform spirituality.

And you don't need some huge mystical experience to prove that you are receptive to Reiki.

Sometimes you notice something during the session.

Sometimes you notice afterward.

And sometimes the entire experience is simply an hour where you slowed down, got quiet and paid attention to yourself.

That's valuable too.

After years of practicing and teaching Reiki, I'd much rather have someone tell me **“I didn't really feel anything”** than convince themselves they felt something because they thought that's what I wanted to hear.

There is no prize for having the most dramatic Reiki experience. 😂

If you're interested in Reiki beyond the pretty chakra charts and mystical fluff, that's pretty much what I do around here. 💜

I learned a pretty uncomfortable lesson about self-care this week.

For weeks, my body had been doing things that didn't feel quite right.

And I kept dismissing them.

I explained them away.
I minimized them.
I told myself they weren't *that* bad.

Then I found myself sitting on an airplane with my two youngest kids, getting ready to take off... and my body started screaming a little louder.

And even then, my first thought wasn't really about me.

It was:

**What if something happens once we're in the air?**

I didn't want to scare my kids.

I didn't want to create a situation for an entire plane full of people.

I didn't want to be dramatic.

I didn't want to inconvenience anyone.

Even while flight attendants were helping me and EMTs were checking me out, part of me was still trying to make myself small.

*I'm okay. It's probably nothing. Don't worry about me.*

Eventually I ended up at the hospital instead of on that flight.

And sitting there gave me a lot to think about.

Because I talk ALL THE TIME about listening to your body.

Listening to your energy.

Resting before you're completely depleted.

Taking care of yourself before you have nothing left to give.

And apparently I needed the reminder too.

Because here's the uncomfortable question I've been sitting with:

**Why was I willing to ignore something happening to MY body... until I became worried that ignoring it might affect everyone else?**

That's not really self-care.

And I think a lot of us do this.

We'll tell someone we love to rest.

We'll tell them to make the appointment.

We'll tell them their pain matters.

We'll rearrange our entire lives when someone else needs us.

But when it's us?

*I'm fine.*

*It can wait.*

*Other people have it worse.*

*I don't want to make a big deal out of nothing.*

Sometimes listening to yourself isn't a bubble bath, meditation or taking an afternoon off.

Sometimes self-care is allowing your needs to be important **before they become impossible to ignore.**

I'm still learning that one too. 💜

After years of doing Reiki, I think we need to talk about what a “blocked chakra” actually means.

Because I think we've oversimplified the hell out of it. 😂

We've all seen the charts.

Can't speak your truth? Throat chakra blocked.

Struggling with money? Root chakra blocked.

Relationship problems? Heart chakra blocked.

And sure... those things *can* show up in those energy centers.

But human beings are a lot more complicated than a seven-color checklist.

When I'm working with someone's energy, I'm not just looking for **blocked or open.**

An energy center can feel underactive.

It can be overactive because it's compensating for something else.

Energy can move beautifully through an area one session and feel completely different the next.

And sometimes I keep finding myself pulled back to the same chakra over multiple sessions.

THAT'S when I get curious.

Not:

**“Your root chakra is blocked, therefore you have X problem.”**

But:

**“Why does your energy keep returning me here?”**

What's happening in your life?

What patterns keep repeating?

Where are you overgiving?

Where are you holding back?

What are you afraid of losing?

What are you trying desperately to control?

That's where energy work gets interesting.

Because Reiki isn't supposed to be someone else handing you a diagnosis of who you are.

It's an opportunity to start paying attention to yourself differently.

And after doing this work for years, I've learned that the most interesting part isn't finding a “block.”

It's figuring out **why your energy keeps telling the same story.**

💜

You ever notice how your body knows you're overwhelmed before your brain is willing to admit it?

Your shoulders creep up toward your ears.

Your jaw stays clenched.

You're exhausted... but somehow can't relax.

Little noises start irritating the absolute s**t out of you. 😂

Someone asks you one completely reasonable question and suddenly it feels like they've asked you to solve world hunger before lunch.

Meanwhile, your brain is still going:

**“I'm fine.”**

No, babe. Your body has been filing complaints for three business days. 😂

This is one of the reasons I teach people to pay attention to their energy BEFORE they're completely depleted.

Because we tend to think exhaustion happens all at once.

Usually it doesn't.

There are little signs.

You start withdrawing.
You get more reactive.
Your patience gets shorter.
Your body gets tense.
Things that normally wouldn't bother you suddenly feel HUGE.

That's information.

Sometimes the answer isn't pushing through it, thinking more positively or trying to “raise your vibration.”

Sometimes you need to ask:

**Where is all of my energy actually going right now?**

Because you can't keep giving 10% of yourself to 47 different things and then wonder why there's nothing left for you.

So I'm curious...

**What's YOUR first sign that you're running on empty?**
