We are proud to announce that Dr. Steven Neufeld and Dr. Daniel Cuttica recently contributed to a research study published in Foot & Ankle Specialist, a leading peer-reviewed journal in foot and ankle care.

Their study, “Weightbearing CT Evaluation of Contact and Distance Mapping of the First Tarsometatarsal and Metatarsophalangeal Joints Following MIS Hallux Valgus Correction” explores advanced imaging techniques to better understand changes in the foot following minimally invasive bunion correction surgery.

At The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center, our physicians are committed to advancing foot and ankle care through research, innovation, and evidence-based treatment.

Congratulations to Dr. Neufeld and Dr. Cuttica on this important contribution to the field! 👏

Stress fractures aren't always just an overuse injury—they can be a warning sign of something more.

We're seeing an increase in stress fractures among young female athletes, especially runners. Low energy availability, menstrual irregularities, and decreased bone density (known as the Female Athlete Triad) can all increase the risk of these injuries.

If you have persistent foot or ankle pain that worsens with activity, don't ignore it. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent a minor stress injury from becoming a more serious fracture and get you back to the activities you love.

If you've been watching the World Cup, you may have noticed that some players have cut the backs out of their cleats. But why?

One possible reason is Haglund's deformity—a bony enlargement on the back of the heel near the Achilles tendon. This extra bone can rub against the back of a shoe, causing pain, irritation, and inflammation. Cutting out the heel of a cleat can help reduce that pressure and make playing more comfortable.

You don't have to be a professional athlete to develop Haglund's deformity. It can affect anyone, especially those who wear rigid or tight-backed shoes.

If you've been dealing with persistent pain on the back of your heel or around your Achilles, our foot and ankle specialists are here to help. Schedule an appointment today and get back to doing what you love.
