Take a Breath. This One's for You.

Here's something you can do right now, wherever you are. Breathe in slowly for four counts, hold for four, and breathe out for four. Do that three times, and notice how your shoulders drop just a little.

Mindfulness doesn't require an hour of free time, a silent room, or a perfect setting. It's simply the practice of coming back to yourself for a moment, and it's something you can return to anytime the day starts to feel like too much.

Save this for when you need it. And for more support, MWI Health is here at https://mwihealth.org/become-a-patient-portal/

You Don't Have to Heal Alone

There's a quiet kind of relief that comes from realizing you're not the only one. In group therapy, people discover that their struggles are shared, their feelings make sense, and they're surrounded by others who truly understand.

Walking into that first session can feel intimidating, but connection is often the very thing that helps us move forward. Being seen and heard by people who get it can be surprisingly powerful, and the weight you've been carrying feels a little lighter when it's shared.

What Helps You Unwind?

It's National Relaxation Day, and we're curious: what actually helps you slow down? A walk around the block, a favorite playlist, ten quiet minutes with a cup of coffee before the day begins?

Rest isn't a reward you have to earn or a luxury for when everything else is finished. It's a real part of staying well, and even small moments of calm add up over time. So take a breath today, and give yourself full permission to pause.

Share your favorite way to relax in the comments. And when you're ready for deeper support

Running on Empty?

Exhaustion has a way of feeling normal. Long shifts, back-to-back deadlines, a busy season that never quite ends, and you start to believe everyone feels this way.

But there's a real difference between a hard week and running on empty for months. Burnout is more than being tired. It can show up as dreading the workday, feeling detached from the people around you, trouble concentrating, or exhaustion that a weekend off just doesn't fix.

Here's the question worth asking: are you recovering from stress, or are you no longer able to recover from it?

Burnout can also look a lot like anxiety or depression, and telling them apart is the first step toward feeling like yourself again. You don't have to figure it out alone.

Sometimes the Bravest Thing Is Asking for Help

As a new school year begins, a lot of kids and teens are quietly carrying more than they let on. New pressures, social stress, and big changes can weigh heavily, and the signs aren't always obvious.

Shifts in sleep, mood, or appetite, or a loss of interest in the things they used to love, can all be signals worth paying attention to. The encouraging news is that early support makes a genuine difference, and teaching a young person that it's okay to ask for help is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

If your family could use support, we're here. Reach out to MWI Health at https://mwihealth.org/become-a-patient-portal/

Living with ADHD can feel like your mind is running twenty tabs at once, and you can't find the one playing the music. Missed deadlines, forgotten appointments, restlessness, and the frustration of knowing you're capable of more can wear you down over time. But ADHD is not a character flaw or a lack of effort, and you don't have to keep white-knuckling your way through it.

At MWI Health, we offer comprehensive ADHD care for every stage of life, including thorough evaluations, personalized medication management, and therapy that builds real-world strategies for focus, organization, and follow-through. Whether you were recently diagnosed or have spent years wondering why everyday tasks feel so much harder, we'll meet you where you are and help you find what works.

When Medication Isn't Enough, There's Still Hope

If you've tried medication for depression and still don't feel like yourself, please hear this: you have not run out of options. TMS therapy is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate the areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.

There's no anesthesia and no downtime, and many people find meaningful relief when other approaches haven't worked. Treatment-resistant depression is real, but so is the very real possibility of feeling better.

You Served Us. Let Us Serve You.

On Purple Heart Day, we honor the courage and sacrifice of those who gave so much in service to our country. We also recognize that for many veterans, some of the hardest battles begin after coming home.

Trauma, anxiety, and depression don't make you any less strong, and reaching out for support is its own act of courage. If you or someone you love is carrying wounds that others can't see, please know that healing is possible and you don't have to face it alone.

When Big Emotions Feel Too Big, There's Help

Adolescence is hard, and for some teens, intense emotions and everyday struggles can feel completely overwhelming. If your teen is having a tough time managing their feelings, relationships, or stress, they don't have to face it alone, and neither do you.

MWI Health Fargo offers a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program built specifically for adolescents ages 13 to 17 and their caregivers. DBT teaches real, practical skills that help teens navigate life with more confidence and calm, including:

Mindfulness, for staying present and grounded
Distress tolerance, for getting through hard moments
Emotion regulation, for understanding and managing big feelings
Interpersonal effectiveness, for building healthier relationships

The program includes weekly group sessions over six months, with the option to continue, plus pairing with a dedicated phone coach for support between sessions. Caregivers are part of the journey too, because lasting change happens together.

If you think your teen could benefit, or you simply want to learn more, we're here to answer your questions.
