Please join us in congratulating Mackenna Hawkins on her new role as our Volunteer Coordinator!

Mackenna has been a dedicated CNA with Preferred for the past 3 years, where she has made a lasting impact through her compassionate care and commitment to our patients and their families.

When she’s not at work, Mackenna enjoys spending quality time with her two kiddos and her family. She is a true team player who is always willing to step in and help wherever she’s needed.

Now, Mackenna is excited to begin this new chapter as our Volunteer Coordinator. She’s eager to learn all she can, build meaningful connections with our volunteers, and continue making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

We’re so excited to see all the wonderful things she’ll accomplish in this new role. Congratulations, Mackenna! 💙🎉

💚💙 Happy 9-Year Anniversary, Chaplain Alan Berry! 💙💚

Today we’re honored to celebrate 9 incredible years of faithful service from our Chaplain, Alan Berry.

For nearly a decade, Alan has been a source of comfort, hope, and strength for our patients, families, and team. His compassionate heart, listening ear, and unwavering faith have brought peace during some of life’s most difficult moments. Whether offering a prayer, sharing words of encouragement, singing a song, or simply sitting beside someone in silence, Alan reminds us that the greatest gift we can give is our presence.

His dedication to serving others with kindness, grace, and genuine compassion has made a lasting impact on countless lives, and we are truly blessed to have him as part of the Preferred Hospice family.

💍 Newly married to his wife, Breanna, since December 2025.
🌲 When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find him outdoors hunting or fishing.
⛪ He’s been the Youth Pastor at Iron Mountain First Baptist Church for the past two years.
⚾ Boone is a huge sports fan—especially when it comes to cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals!
🌱 He also owns and operates his own lawn care business, Boone Berry Lawn Care.
👨‍👦 Ministry runs in the family! Boone’s father, Alan Berry, is also a pastor—and we’re lucky enough to have him serving alongside Boone as one of our chaplains here at Preferred.

We’re so thankful Boone has joined our team and can’t wait for our patients, families, and community to get to know him. 💚

We are honored to introduce Dr. Jonathan Mark Bird, a dedicated hospice physician with more than 40 years of experience in family medicine, emergency medicine, and hospice care.

Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Bird has served patients across Missouri and around the world, combining exceptional medical expertise with a genuine heart for compassionate care. His extensive background in hospital leadership, family practice, and international medical missions reflects his lifelong commitment to serving others with excellence and dignity.

As our Hospice Physician, Dr. Bird works alongside our interdisciplinary team to ensure each patient receives personalized, compassionate care focused on comfort, quality of life, and honoring every individual’s wishes.
