“Alien Eye” Fluorite with Quartz
Erongo Mountain,
Erongo Region, Namibia
23cm tall x 21.2cm wide

Discovered in 2007, these fluorites originate from the Erongo Region of Namibia. The Erongo Mountain was an active volcano 140 to 150 million years ago. As the magma-filled chamber and element-rich waters began to slowly cool, Alien Eye fluorites grew within open underground pockets.

These unique fluorites were found within the “Alien Eye” pocket—a highly coveted discovery among mineral collectors. This limited find yielded fewer than 30 high-quality specimens and crystals.

Alien Eye fluorites are formed through zoning. The black outer zones surround intense emerald-green-colored diamond shapes at the center of the crystal that resemble extraterrestrial alien eyes.

As the crystals grow, variations in chemical composition and environmental conditions result in different layers forming; these layers reflect light differently, giving rise to Alien Eye fluorite’s distinctive banding patterns.

These fluorites have become a cult favorite among collectors. For metaphysical believers this rare form of fluorite creates a “protective eye”. It is often used in crystal healing and energy work. Advocates suggest that Alien Eye fluorite can aid in spiritual awakening, enhance intuition and promote mental clarity.

This is a striking “Alien Eye” fluorite group with clear quartz showcasing a combination of crystalline structures. It features large, angular green fluorite crystals intermixed with transparent quartz crystals that appear to have hints of green shading near the top. The green crystals have a rich deep hue and geometric facets, contrasting with the clarity and smoothness of the quartz formations. The overall composition highlights the natural beauty and complexity of mineral growth, creating an interesting interplay of colors, textures, and shapes.
