Vision Therapy for Adults... Is it Too Late?

Many people think that vision therapy is only for children. However, adults have as much need for this type of vision care as children. Vision therapy is often effective for adults because they are motivated to improve their visual abilities.

When people have trouble coordinating both eyes together or can't focus for great lengths of time, they do not simply grow out of these problems.

Children with visual problems often become adults with visual problems.

Change the demand on the eyes. 😵‍💫

We use a variety of special tools designed for specific and unique vision therapy activities.

Flippers help to improve the accuracy and flexibility of our focusing muscles. Turning the focus muscles off and on helps us see clearly at distance and near.

A variety of binocular vision problems can cause a decrease in our ability to accurately focus; some people focus too much and cannot relax, others focus too little and experience blurry vision for close tasks.

Vision therapy is safe, drug-free, and effective for both children and adults! While visual acuity (the "20/20" part of vision) requires glasses to improve, visual skills such as tracking must be learned during development, these skills can also be improved later in life at any age.

It is estimated that 1 in 10 children have a vision problem severe enough to affect their learning in school, but school vision screenings can miss up to half of these problems.

A comprehensive vision exam with a developmental optometrist checks all aspects of eye health, vision, and visual skills, and can ensure you or your child is not struggling unnecessarily with an undiagnosed vision problem.
