Luna recently completed her puppy vaccine series, and she's one step closer to a lifetime of healthy adventures!

Puppies aren't born with lifelong immunity. As the protection they receive from their mother begins to fade, they're especially vulnerable to serious and sometimes life-threatening diseases.

That's why completing the entire puppy vaccine series is so important. Each booster helps build and strengthen your puppy's immune system, providing protection against illnesses such as:
🦠 Parvovirus: A highly contagious virus that causes severe vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration.
🫁 Distemper: A serious disease that can affect the lungs, digestive system, and nervous system.
🐾 Adenovirus (Canine Hepatitis): A virus that can damage the liver, kidneys, and eyes.

Double the Floof, Double the Fun! 💛

Gmoe and Missy stopped by Willow Grove for a visit, and it's safe to say they brought plenty of smiles (and fluff!) with them.

We love using treats, patience, and positive reinforcement to help pets feel comfortable during their visits. Creating positive experiences helps build trust and makes future veterinary visits less stressful for everyone.

As these cuties explored and enjoyed their treats, it was also the perfect time to make sure they were protected from some of the biggest health risks pets face here in Farmville.

🦟 Mosquitoes can spread heartworm disease.
🕷️ Ticks can carry illnesses like Lyme disease and Ehrlichiosis.
🐜 Fleas can cause itchy skin, allergies, and even transmit tapeworms.

Even pets that spend most of their time indoors can be exposed. Mosquitoes can fly inside, fleas can hitch a ride on people or other pets, and ticks are common in wooded areas, parks, and even backyards.

Meet Leo, an energetic pup who recently visited us for his neuter. While he's usually full of wiggles and zoomies, he was perfectly content soaking up some post-surgery cuddles from Baileigh.

Recovery isn't just about the procedure. It's about keeping pets comfortable while they heal. Leo's soft Zen collar helps protect his incision by preventing licking and chewing, while still allowing him to rest more comfortably than a traditional cone.

After surgery, be sure to:
💙 Keep the incision clean and dry.
🐾 Prevent licking or chewing with the protective collar recommended by your veterinary team.
😴 Encourage plenty of rest and limit activity as directed.
👀 Watch for redness, swelling, discharge, or any concerns, and let us know if something doesn't seem right.

A little extra comfort, a little extra patience, and a whole lot of love can go a long way toward a smooth recovery.

🐱 Sriracha Has a Question... How Many Litter Boxes Do You Have? 🤔

It's one of the most common questions we hear from cat parents, and the answer may surprise you!

Veterinary feline behavior experts generally recommend one litter box per cat, plus one extra whenever possible. While every home is different, having multiple clean, easily accessible litter boxes can help reduce stress, encourage good litter box habits, and even help prevent accidents—especially in multi-cat households.

Here are a few litter box tips from our team:

🐾 Keep them clean. Scoop at least once a day and fully clean the box regularly.

🏡 Spread them out. If you have multiple boxes, place them in different areas of your home instead of lining them up side by side.

🤫 Choose quiet locations. Cats appreciate privacy! Avoid placing litter boxes next to noisy appliances or in busy hallways.

📦 Think bigger. Your cat should have enough room to comfortably turn around inside the box.

😺 Pay attention to changes. If your cat suddenly starts avoiding the litter box, don't assume it's a behavior problem. Changes in litter box habits can sometimes be an early sign of a medical issue, so it's always worth giving us a call.

Let's be honest... every day feels like Kitten Day at Willow Grove Animal Clinic, and we're not complaining! 😻

Recently, we had the pleasure of seeing adorable little patients Smokey, Gizmo, and Glitch. While they may have been tiny enough to fit in a towel or carrier, these kittens are already learning one of life's most important lessons: that visits to the veterinarian can be positive, gentle experiences.

🐱 Handle gently every day: Help kittens become comfortable with having their paws, ears, mouth, and body touched.

🚗 Make the carrier a happy place: Leave it out at home with a soft blanket and treats so it becomes a safe space, not just something that appears before vet visits.

👋 Introduce new people slowly: Calm, positive interactions help kittens become more comfortable meeting visitors.

🏡 Explore new sights and sounds: Everyday household noises like the vacuum, TV, and doorbell can become less scary when introduced gradually.

Nothing beats puppy kisses during a first visit! While Maple was busy stealing hearts in the exam room, it was also the perfect opportunity to start building healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

💧 July is Pet Hydration Awareness Month, and staying hydrated is about more than simply filling the water bowl. Fresh, clean water should always be available, and those bowls deserve a little TLC, too! Water bowls can quickly collect saliva, food particles, and bacteria, especially during the hot summer months.

Here are a few simple ways to keep your pet hydrated:
🐾 Refill with fresh water every day (or more often if needed)
🧼 Wash food and water bowls daily with hot, soapy water
☀️ Keep water bowls in cool, shaded areas outdoors
🚗 Bring fresh water along on walks, hikes, and road trips

The holiday celebrations are right around the corner, Farmville! While we are all looking forward to some summer fun, the unexpected loud pops and bangs from neighborhood fireworks can be incredibly stressful for our pets.

Because the festivities often start early and last for days, our team wants to share a simple game plan to keep your furry family members completely safe and comfortable all week long:

🏠 1. Create a Quiet Indoor Haven
When the fireworks start up, keep your pets safely indoors with the A/C running. Set up a secure, interior room with their favorite bed, blankets, and a TV or fan playing in the background to help drown out the sudden noises.

🏷️ 2. Lock Down Their Info
If a sudden boom startles your pet, you want to ensure they can easily find their way back to you. Take a quick moment today to check that their collar ID tags are secure and your microchip registry contact info is completely up to date.

🚫 3. Keep the Cookout Safe
We all love a good summer BBQ, but classic holiday foods (like fatty meats, bones, onions, and garlic) can lead to severe tummy troubles. Keep all plates well out of reach, and store sparklers, glow sticks, and unlit fireworks safely away from curious paws.
