Friends and colleagues, SWAC’s call for proposals is open for our 2027 Annual Conference! I know so many people doing thoughtful, creative work across social work practice, education, and advocacy, and I would love to see you share what you’ve learned.

You don’t have to have a polished presentation ready to submit. If you have an idea that could give fellow social workers useful knowledge, tools, or a new perspective, please consider sending in a proposal. And if someone came to mind while reading this, tag them or share the flyer with them!

The Social Work Action Coalition is accepting session proposals on micro, mezzo, and macro social work practice for our 2027 Annual Conference, March 3–5 at Embassy Suites in Little Rock. We welcome timely, evidence-informed sessions that give attendees something they can put into practice.

I’m excited to share that I’m featured in *The Great American Punchline*, screening as part of the Fayetteville Film Festival!
It was such an honor to be included in this project. I’m also incredibly thankful that our group had the opportunity to help bring the filmmakers to our community and host them during their visit.
At the heart of the film is something I believe deeply: beneath the political labels, divisions, and disagreements, we are still human beings—with stories, struggles, humor, and far more connecting us than we sometimes remember.
The Fayetteville Film Festival is a wonderful opportunity to experience independent films, support storytellers, and engage with ideas and perspectives that might challenge, move, or surprise us. I hope you’ll take part in the festival; and, of course, join us for this screening!

September is National Su***de Prevention Month, and I’m proud to share that both I and the Social Work Action Coalition (SWAC) are part of the VA’s CAVES Community Partners Program.
This partnership is about something simple but incredibly important: building communities that recognize our role in supporting Veterans and helping prevent Veteran su***de.
September 21–25 is the VA’s Buddy Check Week—a reminder to reach out, check in, and stay connected with the Veterans and Veteran families in our lives. Connection matters, and su***de prevention doesn’t belong to any one profession, organization, or system. It takes all of us.

I’m grateful that SWAC gets to be one of the community partners helping strengthen that network across Arkansas. 💜
