"On this day, they were aglow with pride—from Franklin Clark to Mary Lynn Bryan to George and Carolyn Armstrong to Murray Duggins to Will Gillis and Mary Holmes, president and CEO of the Cumberland Community Foundation. They were the early believers in what this medical school could be, along with Wes and Lucy Jones, Ralph and Linda Huff, and P.K. Vyas.

“In addition, the school has had generous gifts from the Golden LEAF Foundation, the County of Cumberland, The Duke Endowment, The Anonymous Trust and others,” said Sabrina Brooks, vice president of philanthropy and marketing for the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation. All of the generous philanthropic gifts we have received, regardless of size, have helped to make this ribbon-cutting possible.”"

Civic leaders call the opening of Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine a milestone for health care.

Celebrate Cancer Survivors Day with a Gift of Hope 💜🎗️

National Cancer Survivors Day, observed annually on the first Sunday in June, is a worldwide Celebration of Life that highlights resilience, strength and courage of those who have fought and continue to fight.

Throughout last week, cancer patients across Cape Fear Valley Health campuses came together for special Survivors Day events featuring food, flower bouquet making and fellowship. These gatherings provided an opportunity to reflect, connect and celebrate what matters most: their journey, resilience and incredible strength. Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation was honored to support these efforts.

Some of the ways Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation supports cancer patients and survivors:
- Educational materials
- Gas and transportation vouchers (in collaboration with the American Cancer Society)
- Financial assistance for housing and utilities
- Mammograms for uninsured individuals
- Wig vouchers for those who experience hair loss during treatment
- Medication assistance
- Comfort items such as hats, scarves and blankets
- Yoga
- Art Therapy (made possible through grant funding from the Arts Council of Fayetteville and the North Carolina Arts Council)
