Blessing your home and others
When I bless a house, I don’t just “clean” it — I introduce myself to it.
I start by opening a window or door, even just a crack. Energy needs somewhere to move. Then I light a candle — usually white for peace or black for protection — and I walk through each room slowly.
I don’t rush it.
As I move, I say something like:
“Any energy here that isn’t mine, that isn’t welcome, that isn’t aligned with love and protection — you need to leave now. This home is claimed.”
I’ll ring a bell, clap my hands in corners, or lightly knock on the walls. Corners hold stagnant energy, so I pay attention to those. Sometimes I use smoke — rosemary, sage, or mugwort — but intention matters more than the herb.
Then I shift the tone.
I place my hand on a wall and say:
“This home is a sanctuary. Only peace may live here. Only protection may dwell here. Only love may enter here.”
If I’m feeling especially connected, I’ll call in the spirits I work with — ancestors, guardians, or Hekate at the threshold — and I’ll ask them to stand watch at every doorway and window.
Then I seal it.
I anoint the door frame with a little oil or even salt water and say:
“As I will it, so it is. This home is protected.”
When I’m done, I don’t just blow out the candle. I let it burn safely for a while — because I want that light to settle into the space.
That’s how I bless the house.
Not with fear.
Not with drama.
With authority.
Because the moment you claim a space with calm certainty, the energy listens. 🌙
