Clifton Clyde Scogin, age 69, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on August 28, 2026, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born on March 14, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to OL Scogin and Mary Lee Tatom Scogin. Cliff graduated from J.L. McClellan High School in 1975 and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Business. Cliff finished up his college experience at SMU in Dallas, Texas, where he earned his Masters in Business Administration. On November 6, 1983, he married Linda Lucille Yancey at her family’s home just outside Mansfield, Arkansas. Cliff spent most of his working career in the financial services sector, last serving as CFO, COO and Executive Vice President of Help Card.

Cliff was baptized at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Little Rock and University Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, OL Scogin and Mary Lee Tatom Scogin. Cliff is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda L. Scogin of Fayetteville; son, Connor Scogin and wife, Megan Cook and their children, Owen and Molly Scogin, all of Seattle, Washington; son, Tyler Scogin and wife, Emily Murray, and their daughter, Felicity Scogin, all of Huntsville, Alabama; and sister, Annette Scogin and spouse Lynn Fossum of Montgomery, Alabama.

Martha Elizabeth Parks Meyer, age 100 of Springdale, Arkansas passed away on September 2, 2026, in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born on January 8th, 1926, in New Albany, Mississippi, to Barnette Allgood Parks and Jamie Dewey Lackey Parks. Martha graduated from Sherman High School in Mississippi before moving to Arkansas with her mother, father, and younger brother where she attended Little Rock Junior College. At some point in the mid to late 40’s Martha met Harvey Loyd Meyer and was smitten just enough that they were married on October 30th, 1949, in Mabelvale, Arkansas. Over the next couple of decades these two love birds raised two sons, Steve Meyer and Scott Meyer that were the focal point of most of the stories that Martha had about gardening, horseback riding and fun at the lake. In all her free time of raising children Martha also worked as an insurance underwriter for Aetna. After retiring from Aetna, she worked at the Little Rock diagnostic clinic running the switchboard and doing medical coding for several years. Following retirement Martha found interest in gardening, the National Rose Society as well as the daughters of the American Revolution.

At 100 years of age Martha would point out that she had outlived most of her friends and a good number of family members including her youngest son, Scott Meyer. It was this that brought Martha to Northwest Arkansas in January of 2022 where her son Steve, grandchildren, great grandchildren...

Eleanor Ruth Polson Spencer was taken home to the Lord on Tuesday August 25, 2026, in Mt Juliet TN. Eleanor, lifelong member for the United Methodist Church in Bentonville, was three months shy of her 100th birthday.

Eleanor was born November 2, 1926 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Tx to Edwin C. Polson and Golda Ruby Polson. She was a mother, wife, homemaker, seamstress and remarkable chef who dedicated much of her time, energy and talent to the church.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert S. Spencer, Sr., her daughter Vicky, sisters Helen and Shirley and her brother Bob.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Spencer Jr, of Springdale Ar. Christopher Spencer (Dianne) of Mt. Juliet TN and her daughter JoAnn Spencer (Ernest Campbell) of Atascocita TX. , six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Rogers AR with Funeral Service to follow on Wednesday September 9th at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Bentonville. Burial will follow the service at the Bentonville Cemetery

Stephen Dean “Mac” McEntire, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 2, 2026. Born October 15, 1949, in Charleston, Missouri, Steve was the son of Alvin Leo McEntire and Paralee Holder McEntire.

Mac was a devoted Christian man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He attended Sager Creek Community Church and lived his life with a strong faith, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.

Mac proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a career as a shoe executive. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family and leading them well. He was the kind of man who could keep everyone in line while still knowing exactly how to make them laugh and have fun.

For 52 years, Mac shared his life with his beloved wife, Margie McEntire. Together, they built a family and a life filled with love, laughter, memories, and countless moments spent together. Mac was a loving and supportive husband who treasured his family above all else.

His greatest joy was being with the people he loved. He rarely needed much more than family gathered around him, a sporting event to watch, a round of golf, a game of cards, or an opportunity to talk about shoes. He was a natural leader and provider, but those who knew him best will remember his playful side, his sense of humor, and the way he could bring personality and laughter into a room.

Evelyn Kay Long, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, AR, after a long, beautiful life with friends and family in the NW Arkansas area.
Evelyn was born on October 8, 1938, in Goshen, Indiana, to Menno and Edna Miller, with siblings, Mervin and Betty. Raised in the Mennonite faith there, her early years were filled with Christian joy and fundamentals, a farming family work ethic, an appreciation of the outdoors, and a deep love for Christ and family. She attended Goshen High School, graduating in 1956, where she was an enthusiastic member of the school’s 4-H program (competing in baking and sewing) and the marching band.

Through youth group activities at her church, she met the love of her life, Lael “Gene” Long; and they married in 1958, at Goshen Mennonite Church. After two years of Evelyn studying at Goshen College, the couple moved to Denver, Colorado to begin Gene’s education in Dentistry and to start a family. After Gene’s graduation from dental school, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together, they raised three children - Doug, Cheryl and Brent - instilling in them a love of Christ, service, nature and learning. During those 37 years, Evelyn dedicated herself to loving her children and husband, to setting a beautiful Christ-like example of servitude and love to those around her and holding many volunteer positions in church and community.

Luisa Torres, 66 of Springdale, AR passed away August 2,2026 in Fayetteville. She was born December 12,1959 in Guerrero, Mexico to Ambrosio Torres Diaz and Luisa Moreno. She was a retired laborer for Tyson Food’s.
She is survived by five sons, Ernesto Hernandez-Torres, Martin Hernandez-Torres, Hernan Hernandez-Torres, Jairo Hernandez-Torres, and Andrew Hernandez-Torres all of Springdale, AR. She is also survived by three sisters, Emilia Torres Moreno, Clementina Torres Moreno, Juana Torres Moreno, 1 brother, Miguel Torres Moreno, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
A service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September4th in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Paul Arthur LeBlanc, aged 84, died on August 30, 2026 after a brief hospitalization.

Born on November 9, 1941 in Manchester, New Hampshire to a large French Canadian family, Paul was the oldest of five children. As a young boy, Paul and his parents traveled to Florida where his father Sylvio was training Army troops for the European front during World War II. At home, Paul spoke French with his parents, beginning a lifelong love of the language. Finding fellow French speakers brought great joy to Paul, who was a member of a weekly French conversation breakfast group for over 20 years.

In June 1966, Paul married the love of his life, Maxine Vachon. In a chance meeting, Paul found himself taking the GRE in the same room as Maxine. Paul excitedly told his parents later that he had met “a pretty girl with a French Canadian name.” And that was it.

After graduating from the University of New Hampshire and serving in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1968, Paul was accepted to graduate school at the University of Arkansas. Having never lived outside of New England, Arkansas was a bit of a gamble for the young couple. But Paul and Maxine embraced the state’s natural beauty, through canoeing and camping, and quickly put down roots.

Paul worked as a Microbiologist for 30 years at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, retiring in 2004.

Sue Castleberry Dobbs, 83, of Rogers, Arkansas (formerly of Dallas, Texas), passed away on August 29, 2026, at Circle of Life Hospice Care. A service to remember and celebrate her life will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, 1:00 pm at Chapel on the Creeks in Rogers, Arkansas.

Sue was one of those beautiful souls who comes into this world and simply makes it better, just by being themselves. Her love was and is the heartbeat of the family, and she will live on through each of us.

Sue was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, graduated from North Dallas High School, and went on to attend the University of Texas. There she fell in love with her husband, Curt, and they were married exactly 62 years (she passed away on their 62nd wedding anniversary). Raising up three boys, she still managed to live life full of grace with a side of s***k. She could slip on a strand of pearls and look prepared for anything at home, church, work, or an event -- maybe that was one of her secret super-powers – all the while carrying herself with quiet confidence, elegance, and thoughtfulness.
Sue supported Curt’s mission work in myriad ways: traveling the world with him, keeping their home running smoothly on his extended trips, serving as his sounding board, and hosting enumerable events. Tava Louise Bessler Madison passed away on Sunday, August 23rd in Fayetteville, AR.

A service of prayer and celebration will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 8th at Fellowship Bible Church, Fayetteville AR.

Tava was born on October 8th, 1940, in Nashville Kansas to George Miles Bessler and Ava Frances Randal. Tava spent most of her childhood in Pretty Prairie, KS where she was surrounded by close friends and remembered it very fondly. The Besslers moved to Kingman, KS her Senior yr and she graduated from Kingman Highschool.
Born the fourth of five children, Tava always treasured family. Theirs was a farm-family kind of closeness. She never ran out of stories about Miles and Ava and her siblings and carried their love and lessons with her always. The phone conversations later in life with her sisters were legendary for their laughter and love, and they were always each other’s biggest supporters.

Growing up in Kansas, she was as free spirited as the plains surrounding her. Her stories about her horse Babe, and how free she felt riding mean we think we know what she’s doing right now. She was a natural communicator who had a saying or story for everything and could connect with anyone. Fortunately for so many, she decided to use those talents in education, attending Emporia State Teachers College and graduated from her beloved Kansas State University. Doris Ann O’Kelley Conn, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at North Hills Life Care and Rehab in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born on May 26, 1935, in Schlegel, Oklahoma, to Otto Muncy O’Kelley and Annabelle Virginia Lynch O’Kelley.

Doris Ann was preceded in death by son, Kimmeth Gale Hedrick; her parents; and her brothers, Bruce, Jimmy, Lonnie, and Wayne.

Doris Ann previously lived in Enid, Oklahoma, where she volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes, including painting, thrifting, working crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, and watching old movies.

She is survived by her children, Tammy King and husband, Andy, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Mike Hedrick and wife, Carol, of Springdale, Arkansas; and Gina Woodward and husband, Steve, of Enid, Oklahoma; as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Doris Ann will be remembered and missed by her family and the caring staff of North Hills Life Care and Rehab Center.

Cremation arrangements are by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
