Last night, our team was proud to join the Fayetteville Woodpeckers for Healthcare Heroes Night, celebrating the healthcare professionals who serve our community every day.

We were especially proud to help kick off the night as LifeLink AIR delivered the game ball directly to the field, followed by first pitches from Cape Fear Valley Health CEO Dan Weatherly and LifeLink Specialty Care Director Cody Chavis.

Events like this are a great reminder of the many people and teams who come together every day to care for our community, whether that care begins in the hospital, on the road, or in the air.

The Woodpeckers also wore special Healthcare Heroes jerseys that were auctioned to benefit the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, supporting patient care, technology, innovation, education, and the future of healthcare across our region.

And a 7–4 Woodpeckers win was a pretty great way to finish the night!

We’re proud to represent Cape Fear Valley Health and proud of the incredible professionals who help bring high-quality care beyond the walls of the hospital every day.

Last week, we shared that every transport nurse within LifeLink and LifeLink AIR holds a specialty board certification. The same commitment to clinical excellence is reflected within our critical care paramedic team.

All LifeLink critical care paramedics are required to earn either the Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic Certification (CCP-C) through the International Board of Specialty Certification within one year of hire.

Much like the CFRN and CTRN credentials held by their nursing colleagues, these certifications validate advanced knowledge, clinical judgment, and the ability to care for critically ill and injured patients in complex transport environments.

It is another example of the high level of clinical skill, operational readiness, and professional excellence our hospital and prehospital partners can expect from LifeLink and LifeLink AIR.

Did you know that every nurse on our LifeLink and LifeLink AIR team holds a nationally recognized board certification in flight or critical care transport nursing?

From our administrative leadership to our clinical field staff, 100% of our nurses have earned either the Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) or Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN) credential.

These certifications represent far more than letters behind a name. They demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge, extensive experience, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in the care of critically ill and injured patients.

We are incredibly proud of the professionals who continue to invest in their education, challenge themselves, and raise the standard of care across our program. It is this commitment to quality, readiness, and clinical excellence that our patients, partners, and communities have come to expect from LifeLink and LifeLink AIR.

Every response is an opportunity to make a difference. Whether providing life-saving care, offering reassurance during someone’s worst day, or simply being there when it matters most, your impact reaches farther than you’ll ever know.

At Cape Fear Valley Mobile Integrated Healthcare, we believe the best investment we can make is in our people.

That’s why we’re excited to announce a new partnership with FOAMfrat.

Beginning in July, every employee across Hoke County EMS, Cumberland County EMS, LifeLink, and LifeLink AIR will receive a full subscription to the FoamFrat learning platform at no cost to them.

Whether someone is preparing for their FP-C, CFRN, or CCP-C certification, expanding their critical care knowledge, earning accredited continuing education, or simply striving to become a better clinician, we want to remove barriers and provide the tools to help them succeed.

Education has always been one of the cornerstones of our organization. We don’t just expect excellence from our teams. We invest in it.

FoamFrat’s nationally recognized critical care curriculum, CAPCE and ANCC accredited continuing education, specialty certification preparation, and advanced clinical education make them an outstanding partner as we continue building one of the strongest EMS and critical care transport programs in the region.

To our current employees, thank you for your commitment to learning and growing every day.

To those considering a career with our organization, know this: when you join our team, you’re joining an organization that believes your professional development is worth investing in.

Because when our people grow, our patients benefit.

Weather is one of the most challenging variables in critical care transport. While adverse conditions can impact any aviation operation, LifeLink AIR is equipped to safely extend our capabilities when the mission demands it.

As a fully IFR-rated (Instrument Flight Rules) program, our team operates advanced IFR-equipped aircraft flown by highly trained and experienced IFR-rated pilots. This allows us to navigate through certain weather conditions that would otherwise prevent visual flight operations, helping us maintain access to lifesaving care for the communities we serve.

That said, technology and capability never replace sound judgment. Every mission is carefully evaluated using a comprehensive risk assessment process that considers weather, aircraft performance, crew readiness, patient needs, and operational factors. Our ability to fly in instrument conditions does not mean we fly in unsafe conditions.

Within our LifeLink AIR team, safety remains at the forefront of every decision we make. Whether the outcome is launching an aircraft, transitioning to a ground asset, delaying a response, or declining a mission altogether, our commitment is the same: ensuring the safest possible transport for our patients, crews, and communities.

No matter the situation, our priorities never change: clinical excellence, operational performance, and above all, safety.

Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from across the country, we sold more than 100 patches and raised over $2,000 to support Stephanie during her treatment and recovery.

We are proud to stand alongside our partners to the south in serving the communities we share. This transport is a great example of what can be accomplished when agencies work together with a common goal: providing safe, high-quality care for our patients. Thank you to Marlboro County Emergency Medical Services and Bennettsville Fire Department for the opportunity to assist.

Cape Fear Valley Health

Marlboro County EMS would like to extend our sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Cape Fear Valley Mobile Integrated Healthcare and the Bennettsville Fire Department for their assistance with a specialty patient transport today.

Cape Fear Valley graciously loaned MCEMS their bariatric ambulance, cot, and staff to operate the truck, which allowed us to safely transport a patient to the emergency department. We would also like to thank the members of Bennettsville Fire Department for their support and assistance during this transport.

This is a great example of neighboring agencies working together to ensure patients receive the care they need while maintaining the safety of both the patient and responding personnel. We are grateful for the strong partnerships we share and appreciate the willingness of these organizations to assist when called upon.

Thank you for your support, teamwork, and commitment to serving our communities. 🚑🚒
