we need your help - nominate a difference maker for a 99B annual RISE Award in Northwest Arkansas! 🎈

every day across Northwest Arkansas, people are helping build more welcoming, inclusive communities. from parents and teachers to employers, volunteers, neighbors, business owners, and advocates, their impact is extraordinary.

we are looking for nominations of individuals/organizations who are making spaces more inclusive in NWA - big or small. we will honor the winners at Night for 99, our annual storytelling + fundraising event!

local NWA high school student & rEcess volunteer, Livia Bell (middle - green shirt), was so moved by knowing families through her time volunteering at rEcess. so much so that they were the first people she thought of for a year end Eagle Scout initiative.

“Little Joys Project” was put together to make baskets of summer fun for all the rEcess families at her site - including summer guides, gift cards to local spots for the whole family, + toys/activities customized for each child with disability and their siblings.

when people with and people without disability get to know one another, they start to care for each other. this caring + knowing makes a world of difference for our communities. 🎉

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY: Chloe McConnell 🎈

Chloe is our newest team member joining us as the Northwest Arkansas Program Coordinator & is thrilled to be moving back home after spending her college years + beginning her nonprofit career in Fort Smith. she brings valuable experience in event planning and community engagement from her previous role as a Community Impact Coordinator.

Chloe has always loved being actively involved in both her church + her local community. she’s so gifted at bringing people together and will be doing just that as she deepens the way people connect to 99 Balloons in NWA.

Chloe will lead our Fellowship & Internship Program, plan and host local events (including our headquarters rEcess site), and engage + recruit volunteers throughout the community.

p.s. she is a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast! know a great coffee shop? she’s always looking for her next favorite - and would love to meet you there to talk about volunteering with 99 Balloons 😉

while many of our rEcess sites take a break from regular respite events during the summer, the connection doesn’t stop!

our Site Directors use that time to host gatherings like meeting up at the splash pad with popsicles or playing at the park, offering simple ways for families and volunteers to continue really knowing each other and friendships growing.

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY: Kirstin Vanada 🎈

99B is in an exciting time of growth bringing on a brand new Global Coordinator - Kirstin!

fun fact: Kirstin’s first experience interacting closely with people with disabilities was at a 99B rEcess back in 2016! she then moved to Uganda to work as a teacher for 6 years, and was deeply connected with our global partner there, Ekisa - even helping start a buddy program with students from her school and students from Ekisa.

while living in Uganda, Kirstin became a mom to the best kid in the world. she has complex disabilities and Kirstin shares “being her mom (the luckiest mom!) has given her a window into the experience of people with disabilities both globally and in the US.”

this fall, Kirstin is moving to NWA and starting on her Masters of Social Work while working to deepen the way we support our global partners in Uganda, South Asia, and Nicaragua. please give a warm welcome to Kirstin, we cannot believe the kindness of God to bring someone like her to our team! 🤍
