It might sound strange coming from a rehab facility, but that’s the whole point.

Our goal is to help your horse heal, rebuild, and get back to the people and life they love. The best part of our job is watching them go home. 🤍

Ever wondered how to tell if your horse’s back is sore? 👀🐴

Katie, Founder of Unbridled Equine, walks us through how she assesses a horse’s back, and it’s a lot more than simply pressing a thumb into a few spots.

She looks at the full picture: reactivity, muscle movement and feel, symmetry, balance, and how the horse responds throughout the assessment.

Your horse’s body is always changing: ✔️ age, ✔️ workload, ✔️ fitness, ✔️ compensation, and ✔️ even changes in movement can all affect how their back feels and functions.

Regularly checking in with their body can help you notice those changes and address them before they become bigger problems. 🤍

A mystery case solved! 👏

Quincy was diagnosed with severe neurological EPM and eventually sent to pasture as she was deemed, “dangerous.” Her owners knew there had to be something more. After months of treatment and discovery, Quincy had a second chance.

If caring for your horse “TOO MUCH” was a crime, our whole team would be charged! 🚔🐴

A Western saddle pad under an English saddle? Yes! Here’s why. 👀

In a perfect world, every horse would have a perfectly fitted custom saddle at every stage of their development and we’re absolutely advocates for proper saddle fit.

However, rehab horses are constantly changing. They’re rebuilding muscle, developing their topline, changing shape, and learning to use their bodies differently. What fits them today may not fit exactly the same way a few months, or even weeks, from now.

For some of our horses, a Western pad gives us:
→ Extra cushion and support
→ More forgiveness as their body changes
→ Better comfort while rebuilding muscle
→ An easy way to make thoughtful adjustments throughout the rehab process

The biggest feedback we get? The horses seem to love it. 🤎 Sometimes doing what’s best for the horse doesn’t always look conventional.

“Dangerous.” “Unridable.”

Those were the words used to describe Quincy before she came to us. ❤️‍🩹

Quincy arrived with a diagnosis of neurological EPM. But instead of treating the diagnosis on paper, we treated the horse standing in front of us.

After a comprehensive evaluation, our team found a horse that had every opportunity to improve with the right rehabilitation plan. Through individualized care, targeted rehabilitation, and plenty of patience, Quincy made an incredible recovery.

Today, she’s back to living a happy, healthy life under saddle. Every diagnosis tells part of the story, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. That’s why our approach is to evaluate each horse as an individual, uncover what’s truly going on, and build a plan around the horse in front of us.

Have a mystery case or a horse whose story feels more complicated than the diagnosis? We’d love to help.

Some stories remind us why we do what we do. 🤍

We were incredibly honored to be mentioned in The Plaid Horse’s feature on Zippy’s remarkable life and career.

To us, that’s what horse care is all about. Supporting horses not just when something goes wrong, but helping them feel and perform their best throughout every stage of their lives.

Congratulations to Zippy and her entire team on an incredible journey. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of such a remarkable story.

The horses are why we do what we do. 🐴❤️

The people behind them are why we care so deeply.
As riders ourselves, we understand the sacrifices, the setbacks, the goals, and the emotions that come with loving a horse. That’s why every horse and every owner who walks through our doors is treated with compassion, understanding, and a plan built just for them.

We’re in your corner, every step of the way. 🤍
