Betty J. Maxey, age 96, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026. She was born December 21, 1929, in Rome, Georgia, to Victor and Bess Maxey. She attended Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who had a special way of mothering everyone around her. She was the kind of person who made sure everyone was cared for, fed, and knew they were loved. Betty had a true love for her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She also loved to bake and was always happy to share something homemade with the people she loved. Betty was never afraid to speak her mind or be honest, and those who knew her will remember her strength, humor, and genuine heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Kathleen Junkins and Faye Crosgrove; one brother, Bob Maxey; and her grandson, Jeremy Grammer.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sandra Grammer and her husband, Frank; grandchildren, Tammy Morris and her husband, Mark, and Cody Grammer and his wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Natalie Grammer, Blake Grammer, Madeline Morris, and Jessica Grammer; and one great-great-grandson, Myles.
Betty leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will forever cherish the memories, lessons, laughter, and love she gave them throughout her 96 years.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.

Debra Ann Humphrey, age 67, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026. She was born on February 10, 1959 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents, Albert and Trudy Osburn.

Debra is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Benjamin Humphrey and his wife, Morgan; and her grandchildren, Lakota, Jackson, Jerren, Eli, and Willa.

Sue Eldridge, 84, of Tontitown, went home to be with the Lord on the night of August 30, 2026, peacefully and at rest next to her son, Chuck.
Sue was born in Elkins, AR, on August 12, 1942, in the home of her mother and father on McCullah Mountain. She graduated from Fayetteville High School.
She met the man who would become her husband, Wayne Eldridge, and married him at the age of 17. They had their one and only son, Chuck, when she was 28. From that moment on, she lived her life to be the best mom she could be and would later continue on to be the best grandmother.
Sue worked for IGA grocery store for 20 years and then for Harps grocery store for 12 years. She absolutely loved what she did and all of the coworkers she befriended along the way.
Sue was well known as a loving grandmother to all who knew her. Even her grandchildren’s friends and her coworkers called her Grandma Sue. Her home was open and loving to all, where she would have all the movie channels and shows you could imagine playing on her big TV, along with open ears and an opinion to follow.
She cooked her family the same Christmas meal every year, which was a combination of each of her grandkids’ favorites: lasagna, mashed potatoes, corn, and rolls. She loved to cook her son’s favorite dessert, blackberry cobbler, any chance she got, and French toast anytime her grandkids came next door and asked for it.

Barbara Sue Fincher, age 76, of Farmington, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026. She was born on September 19,1949 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to parents Oran and Imogene Parrish.

Barbara is preceded by her husband, Mike Fincher; her parents, Oran and Imogene; and multiple aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her son, Michael Fincher and his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Melynda Fincher and her partner, Mike; grandchildren, Zach and his wife, Cori, Carson and his wife, Stormie, Emelie and her husband, Jesse, Brea and her husband, Tristan, and Austen; Great grandchildren, Baylor and Matthew; and five siblings and their spouses.

A service for Barbara will be announced at a later date.

William Brian Allen, 68, passed away at home on Sunday August 23, 2026. Known to everyone as Brian, he was born in Gloversville, NY. He was raised with his younger siblings in Lurgan, Northern Ireland by their parents Bill and Edith Allen.

Brian dreamed of following in his father's footsteps to become a police officer. After returning to the United States, he eventually met and married his wife of thirty-one years, Christiane. He was able to achieve his goal by joining the Daytona Beach Police Department where he proudly served 14 years as a police officer.

Brian and Chrissy picked out a beautiful retirement property in the mountains near Winslow, Arkansas. They made their dream come true when they finally built their log home in 2012, where they spent their retirement days watching deer and hummingbirds hang out in their front yard.

Brian is predeceased by his parents Bill and Edith Allen, brothers Davy Allen and Ronald Allen, sisters Anita Main and Linda Hine, his first child Erica Allen, and his first great grandchild Jenson.

Brian is survived by his loving wife Chris Allen; his children Elaine Allen, Pauline (Nigel) Jennett, Louise (John) Kemp, Wayne Allen, Carol Dickinson, and Elizabeth Dickinson; grandchildren, David Allen, Danny Lam, Ethan Allen, Brandon Allen, and Billie Jean Allen; great grandchildren, Reuben and Rowan Allen, and his brother Trevor (Kerri) Allen, and numerous other family members.

Dorothy “Dot” Cole was born July 3, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee to Harriett and James Smith. Dot met Lamar “Junny” Cole while attending Memphis High School. In 1952 they married and in 2018 they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Dot was predeceased by Lamar in 2019. She is survived by daughters Cara Cochran (Danny), Kim Autry (Ron), grandsons Josh Clinton (Abby), Adam Crosson, Garland Autry (Sarah), Garrett Autry (Megan). Dot has nine great grandchildren Declan Clinton, Titus Autry, Haddie Autry, Collins Autry, Nick Autry, Luke Autry, Jaydon Autry, Jones Carpenter, Cori Carpenter.
In her younger years Dot worked as a secretary and medical assistant. Dot enjoyed drawing, painting, knitting and reading. In her later years she loved spending time on her front porch visiting with neighbors, reminiscing about her childhood in Memphis and her many pets over the years.
Dot’s family would like to thank special friend Becky Laurent for her loving care, the staff at Amberwood Rehabilitation and GenTeva Hospice in Benton, AR.
Dot will be cremated. Her ashes will be buried alongside Lamar’s ashes at St. Joe’s Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.

Edward Eugene “Gene” Center, age 71, of West Fork, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He was born February 1, 1955, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Robert and Alice Plumbtree Center.
Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Millicent Tate Center; and his sister, Brenda Wood.
Gene graduated from Greenland High School in 1973. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed kayaking, playing golf, and simply being outside. He especially looked forward to Friday night poker games with the boys.
Gene was also a talented glass artist with a unique passion for creating beautiful glass figurines, including blue birds, swans, and paperweights. His work brought joy to many, and in 2002, his handcrafted paperweights were sent to the White House Gift Shop—a special accomplishment.
Gene leaves behind his granddaughter, Ashly Tate of Fayetteville; his sisters, Linda McCawley and her husband, Larry, of Fayetteville, and Mary Pezant and her husband, Bruce, of Edmond, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Arnell Tate of Prairie Grove; his great-granddaughter, Bella Tate; and his brother-in-law, Ronnie Wood of Fayetteville.

Shirley Beyenka, age 83, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday August 12, 2026. She was born December 30, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas to George and Evelyn Husky. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Susan G. Marshall; sister, Judy Rich and her brother, Robin Husky. She attended the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Beyenka; two sons, Michael H. Payne and Paul Payne both of Fayetteville; four sisters and four brothers; four grandchildren, Chloe Marshall, Christine Baker, Kendra Rivera and Kayla Rivera.
Graveside service will be 10:30 am Friday August 21, 2026 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.

Randall Ray Baker, 81, of West Fork, Arkansas, passed away on August 15, 2026.

Randall was born September 24, 1944, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the son of William Edgar Baker and Arizona “Zona” Mae Richardson Baker. He made West Fork his home for 61 years and became a beloved and longtime member of the community.

Randall worked faithfully for more than 30 years as a master electrician for the University of Arkansas, where he developed many close friendships with coworkers and colleagues over the years. He was known for his friendly demeanor, strong work ethic, and willingness to visit with just about anyone.

Randall was a Christian whose faith was an important part of his life. He loved his family deeply and especially enjoyed simply sitting around with family and friends, visiting, telling stories, and reminiscing about years gone by. Time spent together mattered to Randall, and those conversations, stories, and memories became a treasured part of life for those who knew and loved him.

Randall was preceded in death by his parents, William Edgar and Zona Mae Baker; his brothers, Victor Baker, Norman “Bud” Baker, and Buford Baker; and his sister, Yvonne Baker Hutchison.

Brenda Kay Wood, age 75, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday August 13, 2026. She was born June 26, 1951 in Fayetteville to Robert and Alice Center.
Brenda spent her entire life in Fayetteville. She was a graduate of Greenland High School and loved to talk about her high school days playing basketball. She was an amazing homemaker, spending several years raising her boys at home, before joining the work force. She retired from Blackhills Energy in 2009, to spend time with her grandchildren. Brenda loved Jesus and lived with a love that overflowed into everything around her. She cherished her family, her church, her friends, and she loved her precious dog Buck, fiercely. Brenda found joy in the simple things-camping, peaceful mornings on the porch, tending her garden, and cooking the dishes we all loved. Her warmth and care were felt by all who knew her. She was loved deeply, and we will forever carry her in our hearts as our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma and friend.
