Love to see our own nurse Jordan out and active with our Breakthrough community!

It’s Why I Walk Wednesday! Meet Jordan Holland, captain of the Fayetteville Public School (FPS) School Nurses team!

Becoming a T1D advocate wasn’t something Jordan initially set out to do—it happened unexpectedly through her career in endocrinology. After five years working in adult endocrinology, becoming a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), and now serving as a school nurse, Jordan has found her passion in helping young people with T1D feel confident and supported.

She walks to help students, and the people who care for them, feel equipped to navigate life with T1D and build the skills they need to manage their diabetes independently.

Most importantly, Jordan wants every student to know: T1D is something you manage, not something that defines you.

We LOVE our school nurses! They play such an important role in keeping our T1D kids safe, supported, and empowered throughout the school day.

Are you a school nurse? Join the FPS School Nurses team or start a team of your own! Know a school nurse who makes a difference for a T1D student? Invite them to walk with you!

Why do YOU walk? 💙

Proud to have Dr Carllee as part of the Washington Regional team! Love having the residents as part of the hospital!

After earning her medical degree from UAMS, Dr.Sheena CarlLee completed her residency at the University of Iowa, where she later served as chief resident and realized academic medicine was a true passion. When she returned to Arkansas to help design a new residency program in partnership with Washington Regional, she looked to the strengths of her own training program. “Making education the priority, first and foremost; open communication and a supportive work environment; a well-rounded curriculum, focusing on the physiology and disease processes; critical thinking; and advocating for patients to get the best care possible,” she details, became the foundation as CarlLee and her colleagues built the program from the ground up. “This was a team effort every step of the way. We have an amazing group of faculty leaders in this program, who each bring so much to the table and set an excellent example for our residents daily on how to be great physicians, great colleagues, and how to give back to our community.”

Get to know CarlLee in the August issue!
