The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has taken steps to place concentrated 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) products under Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), while exempting natural leaf kratom that does not contain enhanced levels of 7-OH. This means that the 7-OH that is currently being sold in gas stations throughout PA will soon be illegal and no longer available. If you have been using 7-OH, please know you are at risk of experience opioid-like withdrawal plus urges and cravings for 7-OH. AHS can help.

Good news! After recorded overdose deaths peaked at 107,941 in 2022, they decreased slightly to 105,007 deaths recorded in 2023. In 2024, that number dropped to 79,384—a decrease of 26.2 percent, bringing the mortality rate from 31.3 deaths per 100,000 people down to 23.1. We are finally- finally!- making a significant reduction in the number of people dying from opioid overdose!

We have just been made aware of this achievement, December 18th, 2025. Under the leadership of Dr. Larrieu and Gary Gathright, NP, we have worked very hard to achieve this recognition. We believe this endorsement will create a more seamless engagement for those that may need our services. At the very least, we will do our best to make this a common goal of the practice. For those of you that are and have been our patients, we thank you for choosing us and hope we were successful or continue to be successful at providing the care that was/is necessary.
