So what do you do?!

Reset, take a break, commiserate, and get back to it when the match strikes again. Some ideas for moving that process along are…

1) Co-working session with colleagues
2) Business consult group for support
3) Work with a business coach for accountability
4) Take a week off from marketing
5) Re-evaluate if you enjoy the type of marketing you’re doing
6) Repurpose content/blogs for less work
7) Give your brain a creative dopamine hit like crafting

Running a practice takes a ton of work especially since most therapists didn’t get a business degree. Be kind to yourself and ask for help!

If it was as simple as “just do this” then all the fear you have about having a sustainable practice wouldn’t exist. It’s not always about implementing a strategy. I find that it’s often more about addressing the guilt, shame, and fear that keeps you stuck and unmoving.

Comment “quiz” and I’ll send you a quick assessment so you can see exactly how guilt is impacting your practice.

Is it time? Money? Fear? Lack of prioritization?

When I got intentional about my schedule it allowed more capacity for my clinical work, opened up space for self-care appointments, allowed my spouse and I to have dinner every night together, and less time writing notes on the weekend.

What would change in your life if your schedule was built for you and the life you want?

So maybe you should support your business the same way you’d support your clients… 🤔

(You’re doing great btw)

I hear time and time again how therapists are terrified of doing “something wrong” in their business.

Whether that’s because too many colleagues have given you conflicting advice, or you’re afraid to put yourself first, both don’t leave space for you in your business.

It’s YOUR practice which means you get to decide how it looks and functions. Why let guilt, shame, and fear get in the way?

We talk A LOT about how to run a therapy practice.

Marketing. Pricing. Boundaries. Policies. Systems.

But we don’t talk nearly enough about the guilt of being in the business of therapy.

Being a therapist often comes with an icky feeling about money and boundaries, as if client-centered means we need to be over accommodating and undercharging.

But therapy is both a helping profession and a business.

You don’t have to choose between caring deeply about your clients and caring about whether your practice actually works for you.
