Every week, people walk into a yoga room carrying things nobody can see.

A difficult conversation.
A relationship ending.
A parent getting older.
A diagnosis.
A dream that hasn’t happened yet.
A life that looks different than they thought it would.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting with people through some of those seasons.

Sometimes through conversations before class.
Sometimes through conversations after class.
Sometimes through nothing more than the quiet understanding that comes from sharing a room with other humans trying their best.

What I began noticing was that the things my students were carrying often looked a lot like the things I was carrying too.

The details were different. The emotions weren’t.

The longing to belong. The fear of not being enough.
The exhaustion. The grief. The hope.
The courage it takes to begin again.

Many of the reflections that eventually became Without Disappearing grew from those moments. Not because I had answers but because we were all living the questions together.

To everyone who has ever attended one of my classes, especially the Yin Yoga community at Warrior Won:
