Today is our Lead Prevention Educator, Christy Harter's, first day back at school teaching the Kids Have Rights program! Miss Christy started her school year at Ellis Elementary School today by teaching Kids Have Rights to kindergarten and first-grade students. Thank you, Belding School District, for offering this program and for the warm welcome back ❤ Miss Christy is excited to have a fantastic school year!
The Kids Have Rights (KHR) program is a program that educates and empowers students, school staff, parents, and caregivers to recognize, prevent, and stop child sexual abuse. Children in kindergarten through fourth grade are taught body safety education. Through interactive, engaging classroom lessons, KHR empowers students to attend to, value, and share their feelings. Students are taught how to recognize touches and situations that are, or may be, unsafe, and provided with the language and support needed to seek help from a Safe Adult when needed.
