Saint E. Alafa

Saint Elias Alafa, of Findlay, gained his angel wings on August 24, 2026. He was born that same day to his loving parents, Saige and Ashley (Rodriguez) Alafa.

Although Saint Elias’ time on earth was far too brief, his precious life brought a depth of love and tenderness that will remain with his family forever. From the moment he entered their lives, he was cherished beyond words and held in the hearts of those who loved him. His tiny presence left an everlasting imprint, and his memory will be treasured for all eternity.

Saint Elias is lovingly remembered by his parents; his beloved siblings, Skylar Rodriguez-Shoemaker, Ramon Martinez, and Ace Martinez; and his grandparents, Josie Rodriguez (Andrew Trautman) of Findlay, Sherine (Glenford) Tate of Findlay, and Francisco (Heather) Alafa of Toledo.

Though they cannot hold him in their arms, his family finds comfort in knowing that Saint Elias is now cradled safely in the arms of angels, watching over those who loved him. His beautiful spirit will forever shine in their hearts, and they will carry his love with them until the day they are reunited in Heaven.

Terri L. Black

Terri Lyn Black, 67, of Fostoria, peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

She was born September 23, 1958, in Fostoria, Ohio, to Fay and Doris (Barnett) Black, who preceded her in death.

Terri was a 1977 graduate of Fostoria High School. She retired from the Fostoria Review Times, where she was a dedicated member of the newspaper team. In her free time, Terri found great joy in crafting and expressing her creativity. She was also a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams.

Terri will be deeply missed and remembered by her sister, Lori (Gary) Magrum of Findlay; nieces, Amy (Magrum) King of Fostoria and Erin (Jeff) Magrum Kromer of Findlay; and great-nieces, Lennon Kromer, Abigail Kromer, and Violet Kromer.

Ronald "Skip" J. Hale

Ronald “Skip” J. Hale, 87, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully Monday, August 17, 2026, at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.

He was born July 7, 1939, in Fostoria, to Robert J. and Bernadette (Clark) Hale. Skip married Mary L. Depper, and she survives.

Skip graduated from McComb High School and enjoyed a varied career throughout his life. He was a farmer, teacher, autobody mechanic, and auto claims adjuster. A lifelong mechanic and woodworker, Skip could be found working with his hands and creating something new. He attended First Presbyterian Church and was known as a true wordsmith who enjoyed writing poems and limericks. Skip had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a joke. He enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles with his daughters and looked forward to playing pool with his son and great-grandson every Tuesday.

Those left behind to cherish Skip’s memory are his wife Mary Hale of Fostoria; his children, Cyndl Hale, Joel (Deb) Hale, Tia (Sue) Arnold, and Ronda O’Brian; stepchildren, Wendi Gibbons, and Scot Gibbons; grandchildren, Katie, Constance, Thomas, and Alan; great-grandchildren, Dakota, M’Lyn, Kelsey, and Rose; and his cousins.

James S. Patterson

James Scott Patterson, 64, of Findlay, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, surrounded by family.

He was born July 19, 1962, to James “Jim” and Linda (Tate) Patterson, both of whom preceded him in death.

Scott is survived by his wife Tammy; his son, Josh; step granddaughters, Lauren, Hanna, and Kaylen; sister, Lisa; brothers, Joe, and Chris; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Daisy Mae and Finn.

Scott was a friendly and outgoing man who never met a stranger and made many friends throughout his life. He had a way of making sure that whenever you were with him, you were going to have a good time. Scott fancied himself a bit of a ladies’ man and enjoyed making people laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and if someone needed something, Scott would gladly give them the shirt off his back without expecting anything in return.

Scott graduated from Findlay High School in 1981. Throughout the years, he held many different jobs. He especially enjoyed trucking, where he appreciated the freedom of the open road and the time spent behind the wheel. Scott loved being outdoors, enjoying the sunshine, and getting to know the customers he met through his work.

May he rest in peace and find comfort in the Lord’s loving embrace.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff at Bridge Hospice Care Center and Blanchard Valley Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Scott and his family.

Joyce A. Dean

Joyce A. Dean, 79, of Findlay, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Independence House in Fostoria, following a brief stay.

She was born November 4, 1946, in Fostoria, to Clifford and Orvetta (Wentling) Wise. Joyce married Roger Dean on June 15, 1968.

Joyce graduated from Carey High School. She enjoyed gardening, crosswords, reading, and puzzles. She also was a collector of antiques.

Those left behind to cherish Joyce’s memory are her son, Brian Dean of Manorville, NY; and granddaughter, Lauren Dean.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her son, Mike Dean.

Connie L. Leeper

Connie L. Leeper, 74, of Findlay, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

She was born on September 22, 1951, at Blanchard Valley Hospital to the late William J. Leeper and Doris Maxine (Smith) Leeper. Connie graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1969 with honors and later attended Findlay College.

Connie married Nelson L. Welch, and they later divorced. Together, they had one daughter, Amy (Terry) Eck, who survives outside of Findlay. She later married Richard P. Landess, who preceded her in death.

Connie retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company before moving to Florida, where she lived for 31 years. While in Florida, she opened and operated her own accounting and tax business for 26 years. She also worked as an administrative assistant for the Key Largo Moose Lodge. Connie took pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career.

Connie is survived by her sisters, Billie (Duncan) Daughtery, Jackie (Ron) Scoles, Lee Ann DePinho (Companion, Bradd Chatelain), and Lisa (Mike) Williams; brother, W. Scott (Sue) Leeper; five grandchildren, W. Zachary Flint, Emily Galloway, Farrah (Mitch) Allen, C**t Eck, and Mathew Kellogg; four great-grandchildren, Carson, Vivien, Kami, and Xavier; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis D. Leeper; sister, Marlenne (Ed) Habegger; and grandsons, Dillon Flint, and Brandon Eck.

A celebration of Connie’s life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Findlay Moose Lodge. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a woman who will be deeply missed.

Diane L. Youngs

Diane Lee Youngs, 76, of Findlay, entered eternal rest on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

She was born November 19, 1949, in Macon, Georgia, to William and Dorothy (Wolf) Davenport. On June 19, 1971, Diane and Robert Youngs were united in marriage, sharing 55 years together.

After graduating from high school, Diane attended John Brown University and after raising her children, she went back to school at Bowling Green State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree.

Diane was a woman of strong faith and attended Upper Room Church of God. When she was younger, she was involved in the Women’s Aglow ministry and sang in the church choir. Diane was never afraid to share her faith with those around her. She had a kind and caring heart, always showing compassion to those in need, even during her final days.

Diane enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, watching church programs on television, cooking, baking cookies, and painting eggs with her granddaughters. She loved special holidays and milestones and always celebrated them in a big way, creating cherished memories with those she loved.

Those left behind to cherish Diane’s memory are her loving husband Robert; her children, Kirk Youngs, and Jennifer (Emil) Yannelli; grandchildren, Lelaina Yannelli and Lorelai Yannelli; her sister, Becky (John) Parks; sister-in-law, Debra Naylor; nieces, Dawn Strachn, Buffy (Terry) Lewis, and Veronica Parks; nephew, John (Betsy) Parks III; and many great nieces and nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Davenport; sister, Cheryl Davenport; and nephew, Steven Parks.

Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). Diane’s funeral will begin at 1 p.m. following visitation with Pastor Ken McBeath officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Johnny A. Burdine Jr.

Johnny A. Burdine Jr., of New Bavaria, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at his residence. Johnny was born November 15, 1964, in Defiance, to Johnny A. Burdine Sr. and Paula R. (Rankin) Cooper.

Johnny worked in lawn care and as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting and was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a member of First Church of God in Defiance.

Johnny was the beloved husband of Jennifer L. (Turner) Burdine, whom he married on July 19, 1997. He was a loving father to Johnny A. Burdine III, Harlie (Joe) Jackson, and Amber Miller. He was a proud grandfather to Elliot and Eddie Peabody, and Eleanor Jackson. Johnny also leaves behind his siblings, George (Mona) Brown, Rick (Julie) Brown, Patty Fleming, and Robert (Roxanne) Burdine; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny A. Burdine Sr. and Delores Burdine; Paula Cooper and Larry “Bud” Cooper; his grandparents; and his beloved dog, Brutus.

Johnny will be remembered for the love he had for his family, the time he spent enjoying the outdoors, and the many memories he created with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
