1938 – 1943

Hannah Frank was 5 years old, born in 1938 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She was part of the Frank cousins — sister to Isaac, David, Levi, Rebecca, Sara, Esther, and Mozes. She was the sixth of seven children.

Hannah lived her entire short life under occupation. From age 3 she wore the yellow star. In 1941 she was banned from kindergarten because she was Jewish. Her mother taught her songs at home.

She was known for her bright eyes and for always holding her older sister Esther's hand.

In early 1943 the Franks were arrested during a house raid and sent to Kamp Vught. Hannah was placed in the girls' children's barracks.

On 6 June 1943 she was loaded onto the children's transport to Westerbork. On 8 June she was deported to Sobibor in a packed cattle car with no food or water.

She arrived on 11 June 1943 after 72 hours of suffering. Murdered on arrival in the gas chambers, Hannah was killed at age 5 with her six siblings and cousins. Seven Frank children were murdered that day.
