Creatine Monohydrate. What is it? How do I know I have a good quality product?

Creatine Monohydrate is one of the most researched supplements out there and can help support:

✅ Increased strength and power
✅ Better workout performance
✅ Lean muscle growth
✅ Faster recovery after training
✅ Improved energy during high-intensity exercise

And no — it’s not just for bodybuilders. Creatine can benefit anyone focused on improving performance, building muscle, or staying consistent in the gym.

Most people only need 3–5g per day along with proper hydration, nutrition, and training. However gummies aren't the greatest. The problem is that many gummies only provide: 1–2g per serving whereas powders contain 3-5 grams per scoop.

Not every creatine product is alike and one should look for these product claims to find a good quality. Every patient of ours is tied into Fullscripts which is a medical-grade supplement platform in which everything is third party and rigorously tested. One can always find great protein powders and creatine on this platform through us.

Quality creatine powder should have some sort of certification on the product or label stating:

👉 Informed Choice: Tests every single batch of product for banned substances before it leaves the facility, making it a gold standard for athletes.

👉 NSF Certified for Sport: Guarantees the product is free of over 270 banned substances and is widely trusted by major athletic organizations.

👉 USP Verified: Ensures the product contains the declared ingredients in the correct potency, without harmful contaminants, and is manufactured under good practices.

👉 Banned Substance Control Group (BSCG): Provides comprehensive testing to ensure no prohibited drugs or contaminants are present.

A new study hot off the press out of Australia--recommends these 3 things to simply add an extra year onto your life.

The central message from the study is that modest combined changes across these three behaviors have a greater impact than trying to massive overhaul one specific behavior.

The researchers created a composite score for diet, physical activity and sleep for the participants. These people slept around 5.5 hours a night, logged 7.3 minutes of daily moderate activity, and received a diet quality score of 36 out of 100.

What they learned:
1.) Getting 7.2-8 hours of sleep, getting 43 minutes overall of moderate activity and a higher quality diet (score 57.5-72.5/100) was linked to more than 9 years of additional healthspan and lifespan.

The math shows that these changes multiply each others' powers. If you rely on sleep alone to add a year to your life, you then need an extra 25 minutes a night. But if you combine it with 2 minutes of activity and a half a serving of veggies, you only need 5 minutes of additional sleep to get that same extra year.

In the words of Andy Dufresne from Shawshank Redemption- "Get busy living, or get busy dying."

The Hashimoto's Club has been live for a few weeks now! Currently it is a bi-monthly emailed newsletter of topics and learning opportunities. If you have been inadvertently left off the email list, please let us know and we will add you.

We hope this is beneficial for you moving forward to learn about this disorder and be able to forward content and be able to discuss more openly with your friends and family since it's very common and not going away!

Hashimoto’s disease (Hashimoto's thyroiditis) is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in developed countries, affecting an estimated 1% to 5% of the US population. It is an autoimmune disorder with a global prevalence of 7.5%, disproportionately affecting women, who are 4 to 10 times more likely to develop it than men, particularly between the ages of 30 and 50.

PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is seen all too frequently here at the clinic. There are varying degrees and a spectrum of it for sure. No two sisters with PCOS are alike sometimes.

One must remember that it is passed down, so if your mother had it, so do you, and now your daughter does too. Whilst there is nothing that can essentially be done for it, we can work with your body to help balance hormones, moods, menstrual periods, and insulin resistance.

Because of these myriad of issues that come with it, it now has a new name. PCOS is now Polycystic Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS).

This disorder affects roughly 10-13%of women and menstruating individuals worldwide. An estimated 5-6 million women in the United States have PCOS, making it the most common hormonal disorder in women. Up to 70% of affected women remain undiagnosed, often due to overlapping or dismissed symptoms.

Whilst not one single lab can name this disorder, we can pick out clues based on what we hear from you and clusters of labs to determine the best approach at helping everyone get ahead of things and understand their body better.

We are a team around here. Like for real.

But, more often than not, we have to get really real.

Does this sign look familiar to you?

That's because it's in all the exam rooms to remind people that if you choose to not give up those habits, foods, destructive thoughts, whatever else....we cannot achieve what you are seeking. You are standing in your own way.

We work through the issues TOGETHER and if we need extra help to support you, then we bring in physical therapy, nutrition, mental health and whatever specialist we need to assist in your care.

One of the things that comes up in almost every single appointment is energy. We are all tired and could use a little more energy. Then I whip out my chart explaining how energy biochemically is created and we try to assess through either lab data and/or supplements what we could be missing or enhancing.

*B vitamins, especially B12, folate and B6
*Great iron levels
*Magnesium
*Manganese
*Alpha lipoic Acid
*Acetyl- L Carnitine
*Branch Chain Amino Acids
*NAD+
*Co-Q 10
*D Ribose
*Creatine

Also your energy will never improve if:
*You don't get good sleep- so let us fix your hormones and other issues
*Poor nutrition and blood glucose ups/downs- let us help you with nutrition and insulin issues
*Chronic stress-adaptogens and exercise can help with some of that
*Sedentary lifestyle- speaks for itself- get out there!
*Dehydration- drink more water. No one feels good when chronically dehydrated- fatigue, headaches and other issues abound
