At Fitchburg Family Pharmacy, your family's health is always our priority.

Whatever happens with federal vaccine policy, our commitment doesn't change: we're here to keep offering childhood immunizations — measles, flu, RSV, and more — and to answer your questions honestly, with no judgment. Stop by, call, or message us to schedule your child's vaccines.

A statement from AAP President Dr. Andrew Racine on today’s executive order on U.S. childhood vaccines:

"As measles cases reach a 35-year high in the U.S. and with cold and flu season quickly approaching, today's executive order on vaccines is not only disheartening but dangerous. Instead of ensuring every family can access life-saving vaccines for measles, influenza, RSV and more, federal leaders are once again spreading misleading claims.

Today's executive order is not based on ‘gold-standard science.’ There is no new evidence to justify significant changes to childhood immunization guidance. Dozens of studies involving millions of people show there is no link between vaccines and autism, and yet federal leaders continue to promote this outdated, disproven idea to scare families. Today's executive order will do nothing to support families of children with autism or advance understanding of the condition. The only purpose of this announcement is to sow confusion so that more people doubt the importance of vaccines. Delaying or skipping shots is risky, especially as measles continues to spread and children go back to school.

Vaccine recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics are tailored to the health of children living in the United States and are based on decades of research and systematic tracking of real-world experiences. Pediatricians recommend children receive certain vaccines at specific ages based on when children's immune systems will respond best and when they are most vulnerable to certain diseases. Sometimes this means children will receive a single shot that protects against multiple diseases, or they may receive multiple vaccines at one visit.

On-time immunization keeps our kids and our communities healthy and thriving. If parents have questions about vaccines, I encourage them to talk with their child's pediatrician or clinician.”

This is why we support this organization and why our pharmacist Thad serves as a board member. These children are our future.

The death of a Black man following an encounter with Madison Police Department has left many in our community grieving, angry, and searching for justice. This tragedy is not experienced as an isolated event, but against the backdrop of ongoing violence and racial injustice that continues to impact Black and Brown communities.

At BGCDC, our mission is rooted in ensuring every young person feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. We cannot ignore the realities that shape the lives of the youth and families we serve.

Our commitment is, first and foremost, to the young people who walk through our doors each day. We will continue to provide spaces where they are safe, supported, heard, and cared for. During this difficult time, our staff will be there to listen, offer compassion, and help our youth process their emotions. We remain steadfast in creating an environment where every young person knows they belong, their voice matters, and they have a community that stands beside them.

For additional support and resources, we encourage contacting 2 1 1.

Are you a Medicare recipient? Tired of the at-home stool test or afraid of getting a colonoscopy? This is an easy way to screen for colon cancer, and it’s free!

Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers — when it's caught early.

The SHIELD blood test is a simple, non-invasive screening option available right here at Fitchburg Family Clinic. No prep, no fasting — just a quick blood draw.

One of our patients had already tested negative on an at-home stool test, but the SHIELD test caught what that one missed. A follow-up colonoscopy found and removed polyps before they could become anything more serious.

Don't wait for symptoms. Appointments are open this Friday. Call 608-504-9144 or click on this link to book your spot: https://form.jotform.com/261683151898166

Real story, real results.

One of our patients had already done an at-home stool test and tested negative. Just to be sure, he came in for our SHIELD blood test — it's free (for Medicare recipients), quick, and non-invasive. It came back positive. He followed up with a colonoscopy, and doctors found and removed polyps.

"You can never be sure. This test may have saved my life."

Screening is one of the best tools we have against colon cancer, and the SHIELD test makes it easier than ever to take that first step.
