It is bittersweet news we bring today. As of December 31st, Dr. Julie Schurr will be retiring from Physicians for Women.
Dr. Schurr has given us 33 years of knowledge, experience, and care and in that time she has impacted so, so many lives. Every time her name is mentioned, our patients share the love and appreciation for the care she has given and the impact she has made in their lives. From deliveries to the OR and beyond, Dr. Schurr has embodied wholly the standard of care Physicians for Women strives to achieve. “It’s not the number of women we treat, it’s how we treat women.”
There is truly so much she has done it is hard to encapsulate everything that she means to our community, and I think no words will do justice in sending her into her next chapter of life after all she’s given us. So, to close, we offer a message from Dr. Schurr herself.
“I will miss providing care for you; easing your fears with a concise plan, sometimes a bit of humor, or sometimes both. I will miss being a part of what is often one of the most important events in a woman’s life; the birth of her child. And I will miss the lump in my throat that still occurs when new parents meet their newborn for the first time. It never gets old.
I will miss leaving the office or the Operating Room knowing that I made a difference in my patient’s life with the skills and experience that 33 years in medical practice provides.
I plan to remain in town, although soon I’ll be (finally) getting around to changing my name to Julie Traeder, as a very happily and newly married woman.
I hope to see you in the future and share a memory, a laugh, or maybe a photo of your now fully-grown son or daughter that I delivered!
It has been a privilege and an honor to care for you.
Warmly,
Julie A. Schurr”
Thank you Dr. Julie (Soon to be Traeder) Schurr.
