Information regarding cataracts. We manage a fair amount of patients with cataracts at my practice in St E. Happy to provide an evaluation if you note some of the symptoms listed below.
Cataracts might not have visible symptoms at first. But as they grow, cataracts can cause changes in your vision. The National Eye Institute advises to look for these warning signs:
• Your vision is cloudy or blurry
• Colors look faded
• You can’t see well at night
• Lamps, sunlight, or headlights seem too bright
• You see a halo around lights
• You see double (this sometimes goes away as the cataract gets bigger)
• You have to change the prescription for your glasses or contact lenses often
Cataract treatment can be co-managed with your doctor of optometry handling pre- and post-operative care, while an ophthalmologist performing the surgery. This approach offers convenience, allowing you to see your regular eye doctor for follow-ups. Patients often prefer this model as it allows them to have routine check-ups closer to home with a familiar doctor.
